LYC - Lynas Rare Earths

Isn't Lynas dependent on Malaysia and China for REO processing? Doesn't that hurt Lynas when most Western governments are seeking to distance themselves from China?
Good morning waterbottle
Very soon LYC will have its own REE processing in WA and later in the US. Reliance on its facility in Malaysia and also China (Heavy REE processing) will not be an issue.

There is an alliance of sorts amongst Western Nations to work closely together and reduce China’s influence over REE. This is mist important because of military application of REE. The US in particular does not want any REE supply issues fir military purposes and the ability to have another non problematic supplier like LYC with its infrastructure is best placed to assist in this process.

Thanks @Miner and @rcw1

I agree one to watch. Who is LYC main customers (ones who they've already transacted with)?
Several REE companies have emerged over the past 2 years with off-take agreements that never materalised...

I must have missed your post, not ignoring you ... so sorry for the delay in getting back to you

Lynas is the leading supplier of the NdPr family of products to the Japanese market.
Thanks @Miner and @rcw1

rcw1 must have missed your post, just saw it, so sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Lynas is the leading supplier of the NdPr family of products to the Japanese market. Demand is increasing.
Inextricably interwoven into this are these two important considerations:
  1. Lynas has established itself as the only supplier of scale of separated Rare Earths outside China; and
  2. End users are placing more importance on being able to trace the origin of rare earths from an ethical and environmentally responsible source of production to their end products, which at this point in time Lynas can provide.

This information is readily available in announcements past 12 months.

Have a very nice day today.

I like the potential higher low, but still in the one year downward chanel. Been waiting for a general market capitulation to add some more but it's not happening yet.

Good morning

It is rcw1’s understanding that and in accordance with recent publications:
  • Lynas Rare Earths has revealed Malaysia's Department of Atomic Energy renewed the operating license for Lynas Malasia for three years, but kept conditions imposed from March 2020;
  • The operating license has been renewed with no change to conditions which will prohibit the import and processing of lanthanide concentrate after July 1st 2023;
  • Lynas had applied to remove these conditions;
  • If these conditions aren't removed by 1 July, Lynas will have to shut the cracking and leaching component of the Malaysia plant; and
  • It is certainly the case that Lynas will seek administrative and legal appeals with the Malaysia government if needed; and
  • All other processes not applicable to conditions will continue with new feedstock sourced from Lynas’ Kalgoorlie Rare Processing Facility once operational.
Not holding …. at the minute.

Have a very nice day today.

rcw Is this where a renewal is perhaps not worth the paper it is written on??

Hey farmerge,
Certainly would be some 'moving and shaking', happening :D:cool:

Commenting on the licence renewal and lanthanide concentrate issue, Lynas CEO Amanda Lacaze said:

After 10 years of safe operation in Malaysia we are disappointed that the conditions that were applied to our 2020 operating licence remain. This is our sixth operating licence and the four licences granted prior to 2020 did not include these conditions.

Be very surprised if Amanda is not all over a satisfactory outcome ...
Holding.

Did some research over the weekend on LYC about the aforementioned issue. Found this academic paper written in 2011 International Islamic University Malaysia. This case study talks about issues regarding Lynas Advanced Material Plant. Rare earth is a slightly radioactive material. Despite reassurances by the company and the State and Federal governments that the Lynas Advanced Material Plant is not dangerous to the employees and the community, some NGOs and the public are still skeptical. They say the benefits derived from investment may not outweigh the risks. The case study presents a balanced perspective on both the benefits and risks of this project.

Interesting read for LYC believers.

Have a very nice week.

Kind regards

Good research row1 n Good morning to you. I recalled way back in the other Forum, I mentioned about the co n voice my opinion on it. However the sp kept rising. I still have it on my watchlist. Not a holder.
The lic renewal had been approved recently n I thought it shld be smooth sailing for another period of time.
Now, with your researching, I am back to where I hold my belief on the co location again.
It's only my opinion.

Good evening
LYC sp continues to tumble. Another 52 week low chalked up ... March been a terrible month for LYC.
  • Financials could have been better;
  • Tesla announced its next generation powertrain won't need any REE;
  • Tesla announcement of projected new car numbers were at the much lower end of expectations;
  • Awaiting amendment to operating license in Malaysia;
  • S@*t load of selling happening; and
  • Awaiting Kalgoorlie Plant to come on line by 30 June 2023.
Those buying on the dip, this is a dip .... ha ha ha ha, a big dip... don't fall in...

Hello Rabbithop, hoping find you swell. rcw1 going alright, still recovering from reverse shoulder replacement. Rolled rcw1, not a tough as first thought, taken a good while for the body to heal... Good thing can concentrate on our market.... LYC not sure how far it will drop. I'll go back in on the rise. See what it does tomorrow then.

Did you finish the house improvements?

Kind regards

Hoping your as strong as an ox soon.

The joint was no good, needed replacing and the surgeon couldn't put the joint back in place the same way, so, its reversed. Where your plate and ball is in the Shoulder joint, rcw1 is the opposite .... unreal what they can do these days... Getting there, long hard slog. Thanks for your kind comment.
