Israel - Palestine

Evacuation flights cancelled tonight because of security concerns.

Just a reminder to Penny Wong, we have a military and we don't need to use FF points.

This is diabolical. For either political reasons or a lack of RAAF capability we've halted evacuation flights. This is a disgrace.

I think cutting essential services to civilians is a war crime, in isolation. The Israelis would argue they're cutting off services to Hamas and civilians are a collatorial risk. There's some 'equivalence' arguments floating about in regard to Israel's response. What's the equivalent response to babies having their heads chopped off?
My concern is the "green light" the western world has given to Israel.
The anger is justified, but the reaction won't be. IMO This is all part of a wider campaign by the wests enemies.

KIlling around 1400 Israel civilians is the same as killing about 50,000 American's on a per capita basis I think. About 4200 Australians. It's important to put this attack into perspective.

There's some grand strategy being played out, that's for sure.

Iran have been pulling some strings. Unclear if Russia or even China have supported or encouraged Hamas to divert attention away from Ukraine and dilute the US's military focus and capacity.

Have you met people from that part of the world? There's no grand plan. They're too dumb.

Israel almost certainly let warnings slide thinking it would be a great excuse to wipe Hamas. But Israel also probably thought the Palestinians were not stupid enough to attack.

You give too much credit to the political class. They're really only interested in the next girl Epstein sends up to their private villas.

I'm worried about the propaganda push.
The world is watching. The west, for all its moral grandstanding pretty much has green light Gaza to be flattened.

The optics of it will be used to turn more against the west and embolden others to take more drastic moves.

Hopefully Israel plays it smart.

China and Russia ties have been growing ever closer. So has the Russian-Iran relationship.
Just as big a danger is the US and Israel just pointing fingers or releasing "Intel".

You really can't trust any of them.

There is a big propaganda push from various sources. Personally I am ignoring it all and just looking at what is happening on rhe ground.

The role of the USA is quite apparent and the alliance with the Israelis would seem to be now total.
... has been for a while.
.
The U.S has deployed their newest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, to the coast off Lebanon.

In an interesting footnote, this is its maiden deployment.

America’s intent is clear, and that is to deter Hezbollah from attacking Israel.

The statement from the U.S Department of Defense on 9 October said exactly this.

“These posture increases were intended to serve as an unequivocal demonstration in deed and not only in words of U.S support for Israel’s defense and serve as a deterrent signal to Iran, Lebanese Hezbollah, and any other proxy across the region who might be considering exploiting the current situation to escalate conflict.

Those adversaries should think twice.”

Hmm. BBC.... Are you responsible?

When the Ukraine/Russia war started there was definitely a ton of western propaganda but there were also genuine facts of where troops were what areas were being attacked, etc. It seems like with this current Israel mess we're not really getting facts we're just getting nothing of substance. Either getting humanitarian sob stories about the poor Palestinians or getting stories about angry Palestinians protesting Jews in western countries or we're getting conspiracy theories about Iran and Russia and Syria, or we're just getting quotes from as American or Israeli spokespeople. Oh and beheaded babies we can't forget about the beheaded babies, all the officials have seen the pictures but us plebs know we can't see pictures like that...

I just want to read one article written by one journalist that says hey this is where Israel has its troops and this is what we think Israel is going to do they're going to carpet bomb here here and here and then probably send in some tanks and probably dig some tunnels and then maybe they'll do this and then that but we're not too sure because they're military is secretive.

And if your pro Palestinian (which I think in 2023 terms means your left wing labour/green supporter?) good luck trying to find a story about how Palestinians are evacuating where they're going who's providing them food what's the capacity of any refugee camps, is there overcrowding, is there disease, are people happy, are they sad, how can they travel to other countries, what border crossing do they actually need to use if they want to go to Egypt or wherever. There's just nothing.

I don't think I could have less sympathy for two groups of people. As I've said numerous times before just keep letting them rocket bomb shoot kidnap murder each other for another 1,000 years.

I think you would enjoy the article from the BBC.

It's showing the lies from the pro Palestinian side on Twitter and similar media.
The far right and the far left , the Russian propaganda machine
they all hate the Jews and are prepared to make disinformation. They want you to hate them as much as Hamas.

I didn't think the US would do this. If they get attacked, even by a stray rocket, it escalates. This is the ARG that was operating in the Gulf mentioned earlier.

A US Marine rapid response force is headed to the waters off the coast of Israel and the Pentagon is preparing American troops for a potential deployment to the country, escalating the US’ show of force in the region as it works to prevent the conflict between Israel and Hamas from widening any further.

A defense official familiar with the planning said the rapid response force, consisting of 2,000 Marines and sailors, is being sent. It will join a growing number of US warships and forces converging on Israel as the US seeks to send a message of deterrence to Iran and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.

On Sunday evening, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered that roughly 2,000 troops prepare for a potential deployment to Israel to help with tasks like medical and logistical support, multiple defense officials said.

Taken together, the moves are aimed at forestalling a wider regional war, officials said. But they also risk deepening the US’ involvement in a conflict in which the Biden administration is trying to avoid direct military action.

US sending second carrier strike group, fighter jets to region as Israel prepares to expand Gaza operations

Officials have stressed that the US has no plans to put American boots on the ground to fight in the war between Israel and Hamas, which Israeli officials have warned could be prolonged and difficult.

But the planning and movements offer a window into the kind of assistance the US might provide, including managing logistics away from the front lines and offering medical support. That could be particularly valuable if Israel launches a ground invasion of Gaza, which could be complicated and bloody, experts have warned.

The decisions also come as the US military has been steadily bolstering its presence in Middle East, including deploying a second aircraft carrier to the eastern Mediterranean Sea to join the USS Ford strike carrier group there, and sending Air Force fighter jets to the region.

Troops preparing

The Pentagon has been deliberately cautious about how it discusses any potential deployment of US troops to Israel, officials said, because the Biden administration does not want to give the impression that American troops could become embroiled in a hot war.
But there are preparations underway for a range of contingencies should things devolve further.

The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), which specializes in tasks such as amphibious operations, crisis response, humanitarian assistance, and certain special operations, had been stationed near Kuwait in recent weeks as part of a scheduled exercise there. But it departed early “as a result of emerging events,” Capt. Angelica White, a spokeswoman for the unit, told the Marine Corps Times on Wednesday.

US loves getting involved in the middle East.
I'm seeing some reports that US troops are voicing that they are unwilling to fight and die for Israel. Interesting development if true.

I think Yellen just said the US could finance both Ukraine and Israel.

"There will be no refugees in Jordan and there will be no refugees in Egypt,” says the King of Jordan, Abdullah II, at today’s press conference with German Chancellor Scholz.

.
Jordan (TransJordan, East Bank) is pretty full up, since '47.
And Egypt has designated Hamas a terrorist organisation.

but why it's the West's problem, i don't fully understand.

I have got a Plan

Give more time for the innocents to leave
Destroy every building in the Northern Half of Palestine
Flood the Tunnels with Oil and then set Light to the Oil

War Over!
THEN
Whoever Financed / Supports the Terror& Missiles Rebuilds Palestine at their cost

It is as Simple as that!
