Israel - Palestine

. I myself collected a few bruises on anti-Apartheid, anti-Vietnam and other anti-democratic marches.
ah, Queensland. Hesitating with intent to loiter, were you? ... I just didn't buy the 'Practical Marxism' (oh, the oxymoron) courses that were ancillary. But that's another subject.

Interesting that they blocked food, energy, and whatever else to civilians. Isn't that a "war crime"?

Not that either side seems to care.

I think cutting essential services to civilians is a war crime, in isolation. The Israelis would argue they're cutting off services to Hamas and civilians are a collatorial risk. There's some 'equivalence' arguments floating about in regard to Israel's response. What's the equivalent response to babies having their heads chopped off?

The government uses Qantas to repatriate people from Israel. A war zone.

The RAAF have 8 x C-17s pretty much doing nothing, with several on very short notice to move.

The plot thickens.

Alas not in Queensland, which was as you allude more fey than fedayeen, and some years later hurled a Kev and a Wayne upon an unsuspecting world, quite the revolutionaries.

Although to be honest looking at the allahahkbaring and wailing cousins in Sydney and Melbourne, perhaps Australia was a better place in its isolation from the passions of Palestine.

" Not our problem " for once is apposite, and Albo may rescue himself from disaster in the Voice should he stay well away from any involvement in the Palestine problem.

the burbs are a melting pot, pity the imams are imported and the mosques built by Wahabbist money

Just remember it is Iran who is Palestines main supporter and supplier of rockets and equipment. Iran also is the supplier of drones to Russia as one of their strongest allies.
It is not surprising that Russia would be passing on captured weapons to their ally Iran.
Yes I agree completely.

It also serves another purpose- to draw attention away from the Ukraine war

The reality of the situation as of now is that Hamas & Palestinians are going to be demolished.

As shocking & as horrible as Hamas butchery was, it lasted about one or two days & they don't have the capability to re-create that. Maybe they might in about 10-100 years later.

Unlike the Russians, which have enough physical capability & barbarian mentality to outlast the whole world.

We can't forget & take our eye off the fact that-

1. In comparison, Russian crimes within Ukraine, Syria and in Africa, make Hamas look like amateur high school bullies
2. Russia have much more influence in the world than Hamas
3. Russia as a country have more nukes than anyone else in the world
4. If Russia succeeds in their goals, it's unlikely they will not stop.

I really do hope that this event does not take the focus off of events in Ukraine.

I also hoped that the events in Ukraine would be more significant in this country than this particular event & of course, the Yes/No vote.

Not to be unfortunately.

Maybe when China invades Taiwan, and also Australia eventually, we might wake up to reality that Aussie Liberal/Labour politics is irrelevant compared to international affairs.

As bad as the Russians are, I have a feeling that the Chinese will be worse.

God help us, our children & grandchildren if we are in the firing line.

Gaza is a society that operates on two levels. Civilians live on the surface and Hamas inhabit the tunnels underneath.

A general warning by Israel for Gaza/Palestinian civilians to leave immediately has given them some time and an option. They need to move out in preparation for what looks to be a massive invasion of the strip but not sure where the civies go. Most will stay I guess. They've accepted Hamas rule and are on their team. What else can they do?

I think Israel's strategic plan is to completely remove Hamas and take back control and occupy the Gaza Strip. But, what then? I doubt they have a workable plan after that.

The role of the USA is quite apparent and the alliance with the Israelis would seem to be now total. Young Antony Blinken yesterday evening appeared more interested in sharing holocaust stories and Jewish history with ole Netanyahu than getting about sorting the situation out. The latter is universally hated within Israel, and not just by the Palestinians. Perhaps somebody has told Sleepy Joe that the Jewish vote may be critical in pipping the Orange Loon at the election next year. This would appear to be the only reason for such obsequiousness by "Tony" as "Bibi" called him.

The rest of the Israeli cabinet that is not driven by settler sentiment is busy bending the knee to Lloyd Austin, rhe U.S Secretary of Defence. As this debacle plays out, the robber settlers continue to steal Palestinian land. The surrounding flunky Arab states seem content to take the $US and ignore their fellow Arabs in the Gaza Strip. Palestinians will continue to suffer under Apartheid and remain stateless. Why wouldn't they stick with Hamas and Hezbollah.

The pictures coming from Gaza presently would go a good way to negating the horror with which the world greeted the atrocities commited by Hamas last Friday and through the weekend.

Perhaps somebody should tell Sleepy Joe that the war of words is being won by the Palesinians and the race to the depths of immorality and the dregs of righteousness by the Israelis.

It will be intersting to see what history makes of all this.

What are we not being told?

Meanwhile Hamas and the Arab Street who usual outrun everyone else in commiting atrocities and backing monsters are sitting back looking at the huge win from the kibbutsim and rave party murders and abductions. What will they do this weekend and next?

Israeli official says government cannot confirm babies were beheaded in Hamas attack

CNN - The Israeli government has not confirmed the specific claim that Hamas attackers cut off the heads of babies during their shock attack on Saturday, an Israeli official told CNN, contradicting a previous public statement by the Prime Minister’s office.
“There have been cases of Hamas militants carrying out beheadings and other ISIS-style atrocities. However, we cannot confirm if the victims were men or women, soldiers or civilians, adults or children,” the official said.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that people had been beheaded by Hamas in an appearance beside Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday, but did not specify if they were children.
His office later released what it described as “horrifying photos of babies murdered and burned by the Hamas monsters.”
The three photos showed two babies whose bodies had been burned beyond recognition and a third infant’s bloodstained body.
The post said that Netanyahu showed Blinken the photos, as well as others.
The explosive allegations that children had been decapitated at the kibbutz of Kfar Aza emerged Tuesday in Israeli media. Israel Defense Forces later described the scene as a “massacre” in a statement to CNN. Women, children toddlers and the elderly were “brutally butchered in an ISIS way of action,” the IDF said.
Tal Heinrich, a spokeswoman for Netanyahu, said on Wednesday that babies and toddlers had been found with their “heads decapitated” in Kfar Aza.

An Egyptian intelligence official said Israel's government downplayed threats from Gaza and was repeatedly warned of 'something big'

Before the Palestinian militant organization Hamas launched its unprecedented, large-scale attacks on Israel over the weekend, the Israeli government was repeatedly warned that "something big" was brewing from the group that controls the Gaza Strip, an Egyptian intelligence official told The Associated Press.
Yet Israeli officials downplayed the threat from Gaza and instead focused on the occupied West Bank, the anonymous Egyptian intelligence official claimed, the news outlet reported on Monday.
"We have warned them an explosion of the situation is coming, and very soon, and it would be big. But they underestimated such warnings," the Egyptian official told the AP.
The Egyptian official said that Egypt, which has historically acted as a mediator between Israel and Hamas, told Israel repeatedly that "something big" was being planned.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not immediately respond to a request for comment by Insider on Monday, but his office, in a statement on social media, called the report that a warning had been given from Egypt "absolutely false."
"The report to the effect that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a message in advance from Egypt is absolutely false," the prime minister's office said in a tweet.
Netanyahu's office added, "No message in advance has arrived from Egypt and the Prime Minister has neither spoken, nor met, with the head of Egyptian intelligence since the formation of the government, neither directly nor indirectly. This is totally fake news."
Israel's intelligence agency did not immediately respond to a request for comment by Insider on Monday and a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces declined to comment when asked about the AP report.
Early on Saturday, Hamas unleashed its surprise assault on Israel — the deadliest attack there in decades — at the end of the Jewish Sukkot holiday.
At least 700 Israelis have been killed in the attacks and dozens more, including women, children, and seniors, have been taken hostage by Hamas into Gaza.

What I don't understand from this is how not just Mossad missed it, but Western intelligence didn't see it. CIA, MI6 and even ASIS would have people in Gaza. Might prove they're actually not that good, or there's another agenda. I'm tipping another agenda.
