ASF COVID-19 infection thread

You can try mouthwash. Let it go deep to the point of almost drinking it. Can't remember what brand I used, but one actually bombed it.

I'll give it a shot. I tried a salt water gargle this morning and it has helped a little.

Just saw this. Sorry to learn you're crook @Joe Blow. Unfortunately the virus hits people in different ways and it seems it's doing a nasty number on you.

Take care and hope you recover very soon.

Get well soon Joe, and all the others here who have it.

I've been lucky so far. I went on holiday to Forster last week and only saw one person with a mask. I didn't wear one either, but I did when shopping at Coles yesterday. Not many people wearing them there either. Are we being too blase ?

Thanks. It's actually not that bad. The sore throat is the worst part of it so far.

It sounds like a different strain...
This has been my lay-theory. As reported ours was a nothing burger, but even over here there have been some who have been a lot harder hit.

General health might explain some of it but it seems some otherwise very healthy people have been quite sick.

Then there is theory of residual immunity due to other coronavirus infections, common cold etcetera.

Thanks to your liberal attitude towards free speech there are more suggested cures on this site than all the others put together :)

Everything I have read and posted here is based on sound OS research so may I suggest you try some of the simple ones.

My friends and family have had good success with the Newcastle Hunter Valley variant by gargling/ swoosh and spit Hydrogen Peroxide in saline at 1.5% strength a few times a day.

(Nebulizing is far better but you need a Neb for that)

Also lazing about in direct sunshine seems to help as well

How is it going Joe ?

I feel tired, have a mild sore throat and an occasional cough, but other than that it seems to have run its course. I think it will be a while yet until I am back to normal, but the worst appears to be behind me. The sore throat was definitley the worst aspect of it. Very painful and very disruptive to sleep and day to day functioning.

Overall, I would describe this as being like a really bad case of the flu. I am double jabbed with no booster but have no idea what this would have been like if I had been unvaccinated.

Small sample size and anecdotal of course; but we have found a little community of unjabbed among clients, friends and acquaintances... It's quite funny how there are subtle hints and tests in conversation before feeling safe to "come out of the closet" lol. Haven't counted them up, but maybe 30 people or thereabouts.

Most have had the beer bug and describe it as like a cold or mild flu.

I may have some bias in noting that the symptoms, as reported by them (and wife and I) seem less in this group, but I would definitely say symptoms are no worse that jabbed people.

FWIW

Has anyone had any issues with memory or cognitive function following a COVID-19 infection? If so, I'd be interested in hearing about your experiences.

Many people I work with have had this complaint along with tiredness. Seems to go for a few weeks.

Thanks for the reply. I had an episode on Friday when i couldn't remember what I was supposed to do that day. Hours later I still couldn't remember. Scared the hell out of me. I ended up getting a CAT scan. It came up fine and my memory returned but the experience rattled me.

I can only put it down to after effects of COVID. No other explanation makes any sense.

Are you taking any drugs for COVID that you don't otherwise take ?

No. But there has been a lot of stress in my life recently due to some external factors and that may have played a role. I don't think I'll ever be sure what the cause was.

Damn. Hope those external issues are resolved soon.

As to memory loss, it has been know to occur with some who have had Covid. This is a recent article from Harvard but don't freak out about it. It follows on from other articles from different organisations as early as the beginning of last year.

Came across this story on the effects and treatment of long Covid. There seems to be clear evidence that untold numbers of people had Covid have longer term effects. The Guardian has a number of stories on this topic.

‘I’m going to get there’: they’re slowly recovering from long Covid – but how?

For some people living with long Covid, their symptoms have improved. One thing is clear, though: in recovery, one size does not fit all

In Spain
Covid is being taken very seriously. On planes everyone wears a mask. Many young people in particular wear masks when shopping. They had a lot of deaths I think?

Demographics probably. The whole family tends to live together as well
