ASF COVID-19 infection thread

"I don't know anyone with "long Covid" (even if a real thing in rare cases) despite almost everyone I know having had it."

Your spot on with Ross River virus. A nasty disease with near universal long term effects.
Yet you dismiss long Covid because you personally havn't been told or are aware of anyone suffering that condition.
Isn't that just a bit narrow ? Why do we have doctors and medical researchers if not to throw light on the effects of illnesses across large populations ? Did you check out any of the reports I offered ?

Re the long term effects of nihilism, hoplessness ect. I take your point. But frankly your attacking the wrong person in George Monbiot with that line.

Yes he does see things as very grim. His concern about the effects of global warming led him to become a leader in a number of practical programs to tackle the issue. He also sees the broader range of environmental problems that are not going away. He also recognizes the dangers of despair and hopelessness.
So he does something realistic. Check it out

I wonder if someone will be allowed to do an in depth analysis of that, or if indeed there has been any accurate data recorded regarding the mRNA vaccine and its long term effects.
Prior to 2020 mrna tech was known to damage the heart. It had a lot of problems. I actually posted articles earlier in the roll out.

Now they have forced people into having it, they should be able to correlate a huge amount of data, if they want to collect it.
Let's see if they do.

I know at least two people who had heart problems within two weeks of the second jab.

One now needs a pacemaker and the other is prone to heart flutters.

They are mother and daughter so perhaps there is a genetic predisposition to react to a component in the vaccine

They don't live near each other so went to different Doctors, they did tell each Doctor about the other's problem and both were dismissed as possible Vaccine reactions.

Australian medical authorities don't want to know, all too hard.

Hopefully the authorities are monitoring the outcomes, but as you say the doctors don't want to know, when you say you had a bad reaction to the vaccine. Time will tell, as it usually does, a 17 % increase in heart attacks last year is a bit alarming, it will be interesting to see if the trend continues.

This report is Sept 2022, I wonder if there are any follow up reports in 2023?
The risk of myocarditis is higher (although still rare) after Moderna vaccination compared with Pfizer. It is estimated there are around 2 more cases per 100,000 second vaccine doses in Moderna recipients (younger than 40 years) than Pfizer recipients (younger than 40 years).
New evidence suggests that Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca) and Nuvaxovid (Novavax) are probably associated with a small increased risk of myocarditis and pericarditis.

This risk after AstraZeneca looks lower than the risk after Moderna or Pfizer. The small number of total doses of Novavax COVID-19 vaccine given globally prevents the calculation of a precise risk at this time.

ATAGI will continue to monitor data as it emerges and update advice accordingly.

There is no evidence to suggest myocarditis or percarditis is more severe following either vaccine.

Most myocarditis and pericarditis cases linked to COVID-19 vaccination have been mild and patients have recovered quickly. Longer-term follow-up of these cases is ongoing.

Below is a pdf of the various vaccines:

I will post this again to remind everyone:

Between 30 days and a year after recovery from COVID, survivors were 52% more likely to have a stroke, 63% more likely to have a heart attack, and 72% more likely to develop heart failure.20 Sept 2022

In keeping with the intent of the originating poster - i got Covid (I assume) early 2022.
Symptoms that I recall: main one was the relentless cough, then extreme persistence of runny nose and streaming eyes, weakness, sore joints. Couldn't sleep. Best relief I got was from unprescribed opiates, Targin and Panadeine forte. Lasted 2 weeks, full recovery. Unvaccinated - initially due to doubts, hesitancy and procrastination - then because of loathing for the authoritarian clamp down. Now I have a degree of naturally acquired immunity I assume.

Now, why I am posting, evidence for efficacy of Cannabidiol (CBD) if you intervene early enough. Good thing to have on hand. Reported by the venerable John Campbell who has just been kicked off youtube for a week for interviewing a dissident British politician about Covid.

Almost exactly six months to the day since first getting the beer bug, I have managed to get a second dose.
Same symptoms as last time, wife still testing negative.
Struggling to find out how I got it, as we have been travelling around Northern and western NSW in the van, camping in non caravan park sites.
Felt a bit crook after we left Ivanhoe, where we had a good night in the Ivanhoe pub with the locals.
I am blaming the young backpackers from Ireland for giving it to me.
Don't think its going to kill me this time.
Mick

I should not be complaoning about getting another dose of the Beer bug.
Heres a story of a woman who has had it ten times.
And still wants a fifth shot.
From ABC News
The first time Marion Carrett tested positive for COVID, she didn't think much of it. It was at the height of Australia's Omicron wave, and the virus was striking all around her.

The second time, she figured she was just unlucky.

Then came a third positive test.

And a fourth.

It wasn't until she caught it a fifth time that she began to suspect she was dealing with something more than bad luck. After travelling from her Gold Coast home to Melbourne, Marion was forced to turn right around when the by-then familiar symptoms started. "That's when I went, 'Okay, well, this is out of control. I can't go on holidays, I can't go anywhere'," she says.

Over the following five months, she would test positive for COVID another five times — returning a negative result between each one.
Recently Marion has resorted to giving up going into the office, resolving to spend three months working from home in a desperate attempt to out-manoeuvre the virus at least long enough to get a fifth vaccine dose. Right now, she says, a six-month break between illnesses is little more than a pipe dream.

"I'm really fortunate that I have a job that can be done at home," the 51-year-old Gold Coast resident says. "But I don't really want to be locked in there forever."
Some people are unlucky.

I have kids so have had about 5 different flu's this year. Some interesting symptoms. One I thought I had a hernia.
Currently bulletproof. Been cough, sneezed and snotted on with no affect.

Perhaps she could spend some of her downtime reading about strengthening her body's defences against viruses.

It really is quite simple actually

I have been able to boast for years that I have not had Covid - until now. Bugger
The nasty bug is gradually finding everyone, I only know one person who has not had it yet.

If your throat tastes like something has died in there, I found gargling hydrogen peroxide at 1.5% very effective for removing the disgusting taste.

Wife and I still havent had it, luck will run out one day hope you have a speedy recovery.
Thanks @IFocus, our concern was that with a compromised lung there could be some issues. Doc gave me the anti-viral tablets straight away. Fortunately, except for feeling a bit "heady" and a sore throat for 3 days, the symptoms were not any worse than a cold. All back to normal now. Unfortunately, Country Lass caught it too (likely from me) but is now nearly recovered.
