Doesn't look like gold is completely lost yet, Captain.

Gold may be down Friday night, but gold shares are trading ok at the moment. I'm waiting for gold bugs to lose faith.

By the way, (off thread) sold BHP at open this morning........made some dough, thank you.

( gold ) stocks will drop on rising costs , many producers that have cash-flow constraints hedge all or part of their production ( maybe the fuel purchases as well , half-expected some anns. announcing locking in some fuel around $US 70 a barrel oil )

the 'hub and spoke ' strategy of EVN persuaded me to tilt more recent buying towards EVN than NST

Thank you, divs. I appreciate your thoughts and sensible reasoning...believe me, I agree with you. But theory doesn't always translate into number games from what I see here. I mean share trading.......sometimes our reasoning and theory works, but sometimes not when others see things differently.

I like the same 2 goldies you mentioned, divs. EVN had a sensitive announcement couple of weeks back but hasn't affected the sp from my observation......will need to go to EVN and chat about that. (My apologies to Captain for going off subject. Over)

the Captain would say knowing when to trim the sails or raise the spinnaker is key to success navigating the sea of ASX

I agree, I respect the Captain. But I need to challenge him, put his thinking cap on and look at my blinkered vision. I need to know if what I see is right or is it a fancy phantom.

Now one can eat a Balmain Bug or a Moreton Bay Bug, but one would be up on charges for eating a Gold Bug. ?
