Properly educate yourself.

I have editions 1 - 4. I gave a miss to editions 5 and 6 as the authors were hmmm. The 7'th edition has Seth Klarman and others definitely worth reading.

If you can break down the best from the above list, you are well on your way.

The Dance of the Markets
@Rabbithop, the financial markets are like a grand dance floor where money is being made and lost in the blink of an eye. The past week has served as a stark reminder of the volatile dance on display. Like a seasoned dancer, the markets move with a rhythm that can change abruptly, delivering a "punch in the face" to the unprepared.

As traders and investors, we are not just spectators, but active participants in this intricate dance. Stepping onto the dance floor, we eagerly seek to master the rhythm and moves of the market. However, like any dance, there are moments of uncertainty when the next step is unclear. Do we hold our ground, clinging to the hope that the markets will rise again? Or do we sell, only to watch in despair as the market rebounds strongly, leaving us behind?

The risks are real, and the possibility of losing some or even all of our investment is a stark reality we must face. Yet, we are not deterred. Driven by the desire to secure our financial future and expand our wealth, we continue to dance, learning from each step, each move, and each misstep.

We become more attuned to the rhythm of the market and more adept at predicting its next move. With greater finesse, we learn to bob and weave, anticipating the twists and turns of the dance. Though we may stumble, though we may fall, we pick ourselves up and step back onto the dance floor, ready to face the music once more.

In the grand scheme of things, we are not just traders or investors. We are dancers, moving to the rhythm of the market, learning its steps, and mastering its moves. Despite the inherent danger in this dance, it is a challenge we willingly embrace for the promise of a brighter financial future.

So, let us embrace the dance of the markets, let us move to its rhythm. Let us be brave and take the risks necessary to achieve our financial goals. And let us remember that even in the midst of uncertainty, we are not alone. We are all in this dance together, and with each step, we grow stronger, wiser, and more adept at navigating the twists and turns of the market.

The reminder on my desk
So I never forget!

@divs4ever, the last 20 weeks have been a rollercoaster ride, but I’m fully committed to seeing this experiment through. I entered this experiment with eyes wide open, acknowledging that investing can be unpredictable. However, staying the course and learning from the journey matters most.

Quick observation
It's worth noting that in this experiment, certain rules restrict certain actions. However, the down week serves as a reminder of the inherent volatility and risk associated with trading and investing. Even though the participants may not be able to closely monitor market conditions, adapt their strategies, or maintain a long-term perspective within the context of this exercise, it still highlights the significance of these factors in real-world investing. This reminds us of the importance of staying informed, being adaptable, and taking a long-term approach when navigating the intricate and ever-changing investment landscape.
