Trump 2.0

You don't expect invasions by democracies.
Further to the last post, these countries like Greenland, Canada, Australia etc, that are trying to cut their apron strings and stand on their own two feet need to accept that comes with responsibilities like being able to defend yourself.

Australia is getting all excited about flicking the bird at the U.K and U.S, well we had better start and organise our defense, at the moment we talk the talk, but there is an underlying expectation that the U.S and U.K will come to our defense. Why?

I don't know about Canada and Greenland, but Australia can't even get people to join the armed forces and those that are in there are being tried for war crimes in Afghanistan.

Why would people sign up and why would the U.S come to our aid if they are under attack? Why are we getting our warships built in Japan or Germany ?

Trump has given the West the reality shock it needs, no point in pretending your grown up,when you are expecting Dad to drag you out of the $hit, especially when you do nothing other than bad mouth Dad and blow all your money on whims. :roflmao:

Absolutely, we should spend more on our own defence. How do we pay for it? Natural resources are basically our only asset, so we should squeeze them for all they are worth , no matter who buys them, the US, Japan, Europe or China.

No more dirt cheap prices.

That's how it used to be.
Everyone wants us to be clean and green regarding emissions, to be sustainable, but no one cares nor want to admit we are selling the house and its contents.
Once the house is gone there won't be any emissions.;)
It's just like running a home budget,if you are spending all you are earning and not investing in something that will give you an ongoing return, eventually you go broke.

Maybe.

Burning bushland stimulates regrowth, what the long term affects are are uncertain.

The darker side of Trump are his designs on Canada and Greenland. If he really tries to take those over by coercion or force, then that would be a serious breach of ethics and order, and even if they succeeded would likely only last for the length of his term.
Here is quite a good article on the Greenland issue, well worth a read.

From the article:
Trump is not the first US politician to try to buy Greenland. The earliest documented attempt to acquire the island goes back to 1868.

The last serious pre-Trump effort is that by President Harry S. Truman’s government in 1946. Trump’s renewed interest in Greenland thus stands in a long tradition of American efforts of territorial expansion.

Buying it is one thing, invading it is another.
And saving it is yet another. Lol
Or not saving it, the choices are endless, it just depends who wants it the most, a bit like our situation.
Life's about choices, you fight to keep it, or you choose who you can live with. Lol

It's scary. The reporters remaining just ask questions like "are you pleased with your golf game."
They want to make sure they remain in the room so he can expand on what he wants to talk about and send it to their press agency.
He is becoming more autocratic by the day.
