Our house got burgled

We lost lots of stuff, but the worst was our laptop that temporarily had all our photos on it..... plus a wedding ring,,,all the other crap is replaceable....

This I feel would be the worst for me if my computer/Hard drive was stolen. As you said they have alot of photos, documents, personal information on it. Most of the other material stuff can be replaced however the memories on there cannot. I always remove my H/D's and hide them when I go away on holidays, I guess I should look at having a permanent backup somewhere just in-case.

I have security screens on all my doors, always leave shoes out and often will drop home at random times (I deliver stuff so it's not hard to rock past) just to keep an eye on my place and break up those hours when I'm not at home.

However in saying that, all you can do is make it as hard as you can for someone to gain entry, if they really want to get in, they always will find a way.

Agree Ageo, I have a rifle in the house, knives, golf clubs etc, the trouble is you have to be at home at the time to use them, a lot of these ar*ewipes will usually work an area and pick targets of opportunity when people arent home, as Julia mentioned earlier they will will often know who has dogs, who hasnt, when dad goes to work, when mum takes the kids out etc etc, most people have daily routines that could be worked out. Its about time our justice system placed some value on our lives.

Another thing, if you buy a house that has had previous owners, get a locksmith in to change all the locks, cost me $180 in April when I bought this place, it had been a rental before that, you never know who still has keys.

Of course there is nothing you can do when your not home. But if the burglars knew that the neighbours were armed perhaps they would think twice again.

Remember most thieves only do it because the consequences are minimal. If you up those then alot would turn away.

Of course if they came in whilst im home then beware as there is a shoot on site rule.

We caught a burgler once ..................:D

He broke in the front window while me and some boys were having a few ales in the shed .............

Was by luck a mate spotted him while having a tinkle up the side .......

I choose to end this tale here on the grounds it may incriminate the righteous but happy to say i think the thieving lil tosser will think twice about breaking into houses in the future.

The way i see it is that the word 'justice' in the phrase " justice system " is a joke and when it comes to defending ones family and castle ,all rules go out the same window that the scumbag came through in the first place..........

Ask them to go fishing with you. Just remember to take some chicken wire and bricks (several). Stops the body from floating to the surface. F**ken w**kers. King HIT!!!

Many of these burglars are feeding drug habits, so if they legalised all the illicit drugs, the burglaries would decrease dramatically.

They could be put in camps with music and walls to grafitti and fed whatever dope they wanted.

Then we could go back to days I remember when nobody locked their houses or cars.

Its drugs that cause most of the crime.

Well last night when i got home the fkers made a mess. Took mainly the PS3 with games etc.... some gold jewellery and trashed the joint.
:mad::mad::mad::mad:

If i catch him, off goes his fingers and toes.

Sympathies to Condog and ageo. I had three, two of them after I'd installed an alarm system. First was the worst because they went through the place like a tornado and I felt so sick about the mess. Also that they actually knocked over my Dad's old radio when they broke the window but didn't take it - felt like they were dissing him rather than the radio.

I didn't have anything worth much to druggies. Even the opal ring my parents gave me for my 21st birthday probably sold for less than a 10th of its emotional value.

After the first one I was definitely into don't get mad get even mode, but I never found anyone to get even with :(

Nasty experience, esp. so close to Christmas

So sorry, Ageo. I've never had it happen, but can imagine the outrage and violation you must be feeling.:(:(

Burgled nine (yes 9) times in two years at previous address. It's not a good feeling that's for sure.

I knew who it was too but was unable to get sufficient proof for the police to take action. So I took action myself instead - let's just say they got the message.

A few years after that, vandalism at the same address became a persistent problem. Same story, not enough proof for police and they couldn't be bothered with finger prints etc anyway. And so once again I sorted it out myself... ;)

I've since moved.

Sorry to hear that Ageo, thieves getting there hand cut off wouldn't be a bad idea of justice, might wake a few of these fkers up, castrate rapists and child molesters, hang murderers and clean the sh*t out of society before it breeds, fking do gooders giving these dikheads rights should be lined up with them.

A few years back, the misses, my newborn and I were out shopping and then decided to head home. She wanted to go get lunch, but me thinking that might lead to more shopping pointed the car homewards. When we got back the front door was open. I thought I might have left it open but wife said she had closed everything. I snuck up to a window and saw two thieves packing all our stuff into boxes. As I turned around to get an axe from the side of the house, one saw me and I had to chase them through the house. Managed to catch one and proceeded to pound em. When the cops came with guns drawn, I had to mention I was the one that was robbed. They quickly stepped on the offender’s neck and squashed them into the cement :xyxthumbs.

This was roughly around Christmas. They had packed all of our stuff into boxes and trashed through our draws but we were lucky enough not to lose anything (was not insured either). Downside is that because they had not taken anything they got a lesser charge. I should have said at least $2k or more was stolen so they did not get off with a slap on the wrist. While probably unethical (and illegal) I should have dropped them in it as much as possible. The cop was probing for more so he could charge them. But I thought telling the truth would have been good enough. The system is setup to protect crims I suppose. And the cops need as much dirt as they can get to lay charges.
Tools in my van get a regular robbing every so often. It's always when you least expect it.

Had what could be possibly the first signs of what could progress into our house getting burgled over the weekend.

Started on Thursday night, we out to the g/f's for dinner, when we came home the door on our other car (Festiva) was open, we thought this was strange as my partner had closed and locked it before we left. The car was parked in our driveway off the street, with a sensor light above (have had a car rummaged through before) however its at the back side of the house (live on a corner block) It had only been dark for about 15-20 mins. Nothing was stolen or missing from the car.

On Saturday night I was out at the club, g/f at home, was about 11:40pm and for some reason I had a strong urge to want to come home. (This is odd as things were just starting to kick off and i normally stay out till at least 1 on these nights where I head out) Anyways, called the g/f to come pick me up. As she was reversing out of the driveway a small light caught her eye down near the front of the house on the nature strip, didnt think much of it at first, however as she got closer she realized it was 2 tall dark Sudanese males with a small blue flash light in one hand, once they saw her approaching in her car then quickly put the flash light away and spilt to either side of the road. My g/f scared drove the other way, only to stop at an intersection, turn her car around and see what they were upto and which way they went. After hooking it back and high beaming back up the road one was no where to be seen, with the other walking with his hoodie on away from the direction of the house. She then quickly came and picked me up (1000M down the road) and we returned and chucked a few laps of adjoining streets to see where they went, they seemed to of disappeared into the dark.......

Anyways come Monday my g/f who is friends with a few police officers filed a report and they are going to do a few extra patrols of the area.

Come to this afternoon and whilst walking down the side of our shed what did we find? A coat hanger bent into the shape of a jimmy bar which would of been used to open the Festiva door, so I either think they got disturbed the first time, or couldn't start the ignition and bailed.

How do we know their Sudanese? Well a few families have settled in town, 1 family lives one street over, I know of them through my work, and I don't think its them, however one of their sons is friends with a really tall dark one, which I have seen walking around the area. You wouldn't believe it my g/f was driving home the other day and seen 2 tall very dark Sudanese walking again near the area towards the CBD. She is 99% positive its them from their walking style and features.

What are we going to do about it?

My g/f's father owns a Belgium Shepard which is very well trained, knows not to eat food from strangers/ect so come Sunday afternoon, Jemma will be a new resident of our home. At least for a few weeks anyway to warn off any more attempts.......

I have never been burgled per se, but we were, when I was a little kid ie 6yo. I had the great privilege in 6yo. speak to find the bit of glass that the robbers had chucked under the couch. The police found my figerprints and those of the darstedly darsted, who they discovered ended up being the house painter at the time. I finally enjoy being a 6yo crime fighter. There is the old adage of do unto others as they do unto you. I always keep that in mind every minute of every day and it seems to keep me safe

If you have sensor lights that are not high on a wall on your home, always check them every now and then. The little buggers turn the sensor to face the wall, or to a direction that won't get them. Normally they need to stand on the fence or something similar, but will use whatever they can find.

Those rights went out the window when our government decided people cannot use "self defense" as a genuine reason to own a firearm.

To me that says it all, the crim can do what the fk he likes and we law abiding citizens can take it up the ass.

A burglar loves it today as he knows 99% of homes are unarmed. Cameras and alarms are just full of wank. A 12g loaded with buckshot would have him thinking twice.

Mate I still feel your pain and frustration...

Why be soft and stop at buckshot........:D:D:D

Its a joke....since my joint theres been about 10 other places in town done by the same group...they have been id near the sceen before and after almost every one.....but because they have not been id'd in the property or with the stuff.....no charges......and no search warrants.......finger prints still not yet processed and its been 6 weeks......they have a set, but not done yet...

The law is so far stacked in the favour of offenders its just rediculous....in our case these guys have a list of copnvictions as long as both arms and are implicated in 100 times that many crimes....

This is a wonderful beuatiful country and we are so lucky to live here, but it makes you wonder how the hell we are going to stay like this with these scumbags so brazonlly playing a soft system and getting poaid baby bonuses to bring in more....... Make it a tax deduction for a start and perhaps the right role models might start out breeding them...(im not implying anything about the unemployed or poor) but i am implying that the baby bonus encourages breeding amongst 3rd generation scumbags and people unfit to be parents....who think that $6000 is enough to raise a kid - or throw it at the grandparents to raise it for them...while they are off at the pub or commiting crimes..

Come on Australia - we are better then that.....get tough on these people...it is unnacceptable...

I had sensor lights but we where done at 10.30 am.... I now have cameras and alarm as well...soon a safe......and if that dont work might have to get meself some bikies....lol any CEO's know some bikies ...jokes...
