The only two entrants not included in the May competition were OmegaTrader and againsthegrain.

OmegaTrader selected the same stock as myrtie100 but myrtie100 got in first, and againsthegrain's entry was under 1c and therefore not eligible.

Hey Joe,

We should see you join the monthly comp :) Even if not eligible for prizes (wouldn't bother me if you were)...but just to be in it?

I think I did many years ago a few times but it didn't last long. I don't recall doing very well.

I may throw my hat into the ring next month just for a giggle and see how I go.

Reminds me of the Enron bikie members...

I'm tipping ASX:WHY in the next comp. It'll be my best result this year :D

Oh gee, as of 18 May, I was in 6th place with a stock that I know nothing about. I couldn't remember what I chose, so I had to look it up. Normally I am in the negative. Maybe I will be in the negative by the end of this month??? Hopefully not!! It just seems very odd to me that I am even beating Pixel by 2 places???? He is in 8th spot.

I hope he wins. He was winning for a period of time in this month.

How much thought should I put into this competition? Some might put in lots of effort. Am I wrong just to pick a stock at random?

You're doing well because you picked a stock barely above 1c, and even a single pip up gives you almost 10%. You'll probably never win a competition on less than about 30-40% or more (this month's scoring is fairly low so far, but the month isn't over yet). Picking a stock with a very low price will often give you a relatively extreme result because every pip, up or down, is worth a large percentage, but you probably won't get many pips on random 1c companies. This is the reason stocks under 1c are not allowed (I assume). Otherwise everyone would be choosing 0.1c companies, and if they go up a single pip you'd be on 100% and often win, which would be no fun.

Put as much or little thought in as you want. Choosing at random is probably unlikely to ever give you a win, but play it in whatever way makes you happy :) I usually own the company I pick, so when I win or place it's very exciting. If it wasn't at least a company I follow, it wouldn't hold much appeal to me.

Congratulations to Benrykers, Sdajii, and stockartist147 for taking out the top three places in the May 2018 stock tipping competition!

Benrykers finished in first place with an impressive 22.22% return with BSM. In second place was Sdajii who achieved a handy 11.29% return with SEA. Rounding out the top three this month was stockartist147 with NAN, which returned a solid 10.37%.

Can Benrykers, Sdajii, and stockartist147 please contact me via PM regarding their prizes.

Best of luck to all in the June competition! :)

The May 2018 competition is dedicated to pixel, who left us this month. You are missed mate.

Thanks for running the competition again, Joe! This month certainly was an interesting one to watch, I think we all had at least part of us hoping Pixel would win and it was nice to see him in first place for a good chunk of the month. I checked out some of the top companies as they overtook me and I beat them back, and it was interesting following their stories, and I may invest in some.

Congratulations to Benrykers on taking out first place at the finish line!
