Futures trading journal - GB

The cat bounced alright. Obviously it's not dead.

Learned a lot from the last week. It was a real grind. Learned that a bullish market will have bars of strong buying supported by bars where there's medium buying. Being more inclined to go long, I would have been better sitting out most of the last few days. There were profitable trades available, but they took a lot more work to find than usual. I also had good confirmation of the thickness/thinness of the FVG lines as an indicator of an impulse move.

The whole chart is now rebalanced after days of being pushed down. I don't know, but I suspect that this may mean nothing much happens for a few days.

When I say bullish/bearish, I'm referring to the 1 min TF, which is where I spend most of my time. I do that because I get a much better feel for what's happening than on higher TFs.

Good morning GB, I don't have a chart of my own. I go by investing.com It was volatile yesterday, up and down (I didn't watch it all the time because I don't trade futures, don't know how anyway) I only watch for a gauge as to what is probable etc...

Fair enough. If you're not interested in subscription charts, Tradingview has a very good free option. With an email sign up, you can save your layouts and come back to them at any time. You don't have to trade to have an opinion on the markets, so post whatever you like here.

ES: I'm waiting for PMI data at midnight to see where it might go next. Hopefully long off 4179, and targeting 4122.25.

Gold: I'm wanting to see how it responds to this overhead trendline. Might be the better long option right now.

GC 5 min.

gold running hard. tgt 2026.9

Also long ES: tgt 4196

edit: thinking ES may pop up to my target with PMI, then head back down. Going to hold through the news.

Played out pretty much as expected except the drop wasn't very big.

Looks like it wants to taste new highs, even though it's overbought and 4198 is an old high from back in Apr 18.. So I went long again at 4193.25. tgt 4023.5. If it gets to my target I will flip to short and tgt 4187.5.

ES: Still in-trade.

Gold was a flurry leading nowhere. Stopped out.

edit: ES tgt reached. Now short with tgt 1487.5

4098 would be nice if it gets that low.

I don't feel like trading. Had enough. Gonna make some trades anyway, just to see how this frame of mind affects things.

Fell asleep at the monitor! Was rooted last night and should have recognized it. The constant 3:30 am finishes finally caught up with me. The short was obvious - instead, made 2 losing trades.

Tahiti has better hours....

No. The dollar risk I take trading shares is higher, but for some reason futures seems more risky. If I do it now, it will feel like biting the bullet, and that's not the right attitude. A leap of faith is required. Any suggestions?
