Etrade problems

I just spoke to a manager there and said this problem needs to be fixed soon or people are going to start leaving.

He said the problem is with the portfolio page slowing down all servers, they have just installed another server and are currently testing. He said it should be ready by end of week then there should be no probs.

Ill wait n see:mad:
Thanks for that, Kiwikarlos. This is what makes me even more irritated: that when I phoned I was blandly told there was no problem - it must be at my end. It's pretty rare for me to hang up on anyone. If they concede there is a difficulty and give an estimated "fix it" time, then I can live with that, but just don't tell me the problem is mine.

Have also been having many problems with etrade this weekend and today. No market deep, charts and wrong account balance. The only thing that works is to access the OLD etrade web site. You'd think they would give out a press release and let us know what's happening.

I really, really lose it when I cannot access say a banking site, I havent done anything to my computer but when I ring up for support they say it is my fault and go through their list of internet tweaking stuff (cookies, security etc etc). This has happened to me twice in the last month with NAB! And it never had anything to do with me at all! I get so, so cross about this! Fix up your own damn system BANKS!

I was put through hoops for almost 2 weeks, before E.trade admitted today, they have problem and they are going to address it.
It wasn't necessary; they could have looked at it straight away.

I suppose, support team are overworked and probably underpaid bunch of people who for some reason decided that deflecting issue is the way to go.

Maybe they are inexperienced, or maybe if they feel that they ONLY work there they do not have ownership of their company at heart.

They do whatever they think fit to go by every day, hoping that problems will disappear.

I discovered another problem today.

Some announcements aren't making it onto e-trade, i.e. an announcement from BON on the 26/04/07 that have just sold another 2029 carat's of Diamonds for nearly US$500,000.

The announcement is on ASX but not on e-trade. e-trade had better pull their finger pulled out or they can say bye-bye to my money.

In my experience 99% of the time technical people are more than willing to tell the truth to anyone who asks. It's the managers and, worse still, legal types who demand that lies be told.

Overall, it sounds awfully like the technical people aren't the ones in charge here and that marketing or management has been calling the shots on technical matters. If that's true then they're about to learn that great tech lesson of how saving money ends up sending you broke. :2twocents

That happened a few months ago with NAB, with one of my shares I was trading (as opposed to buy and hold) BTA. So i sent them an email asking why they were selective in their announcements. They replied that they were not allowed to be selective that would be unethical blah blah. And I should not be accusing them of that. So I got onto the ASX website that showed a list of announcements with the time they were lodged and dates etc, and did a copy and paste, then did the same thing on the NAB website timeline which showed there was an announcement missing.

So they replied saying, oops, we shall have to investigate further because that should not happen. Am still waiting for their response!

Easy fix for that one. Try selling the stocks and see what happens. If you're successful, just withdraw the cash and run... :p:

hah, is that all, the other day I had three pages of stocks come up worth over $12 million

I think I'd have to relocate to mexico if that happened to me :D

Another bad day in the E office !!!

E -not much trade- PRO dead
Normal site doesn’t update trades, cannot place order don’t know if trade completed, really bad and not even Friday the 13th

Is it only me?

Or it is only me because nobody else uses them any more?

Well, they are back on line, just little 45 minutes forced break scare, to make me feel grateful when site works.

same problem here!!! I couldn't put a order thru because of that!!!! now the price went uppppppppppp!!!!!!! i want compensation for this!

I've had plenty of problems with them too. My account is currently showing that I have ten grand more than what I actually do. Would be o.k. if that was the case.

What about the day the China market fell! Lost a couple fo thousand between when I placed an order (that hung in the system) to when I finally got to speak to an operator to place a sell. I threatened to call the Age, which I did, but the business journo wasn't there and then I cooled down and didn't bother calling back. I assumed others would..

But having said that, I did hear that a lot of sites were down that morning.

I still continue to use them because I'm lazy to change. I'm going to have to get my act together..

The new site doesn't seem to have gainers/losers function like the old, so keep reverting to old site. Frustrating, maybe it's there but I can't find it.

If anyone has any suggestions on better site to use, cheaper and same/better resources would be interested to hear about them.

In a meantime E nother -no show nothing- time, maybe new standard.

Funny I was asked to complete survey yesterday and I wasn't too harsh, would be different today, well, shows how timing is important in all walks of life.

Our server was down today too! Apparently Microsoft put an essential update through Business servers overnight which caused many to crash!:banghead:
