Good morning everyone and welcome to the December 2018 stock tipping competition! :)

This month's competition is proudly sponsored by FP Markets.

FP Markets is an Australian owned and ASIC regulated broker with over 12 years experience and 35 industry awards including Highest Overall Client Satisfaction 5 years running. They facilitate trading in equities, indices, commodities, futures, Forex and Bitcoin via their MetaTrader4 platform.

FP Markets offer 10,000+ equities, indices and commodities across all major international markets. All equity CFDs are DMA priced and 100% hedged. Could all qualifying entrants please check their entries and entry price and report any errors to me in this thread.

Despite @Ann 's sabotage, I'm in equal third position lol

All I need is a crash and I'll be the Steven Bradbury of the stock tipping comp

It would be a sad day when someone's honest and substantiated opinion is described as 'sabotage'. I gain no advantage for my stock pick by decribing your choice as a non-tradable stock.

In fact I was thinking of suggesting to Joe, that to make this a viable, valuable and worthwhile tipping contest next year, all picks should only come from the ASX 500. With this we know they are viable and tradeable stocks, this would give the ASF Tipping Contest a bit of credibility with the readers instead of a little backwoods of nasty little pump and dumps.

Make it the ASX300. We've both got VAS lol

No I think there are some small emerging stocks on the ASX 500 which haven't been picked over too badly unlike the ASX300. It also means the stocks have been looked at by Standard and Poors which may or may not provide some degree of respectability. In other words they may have passed the sniff test. Some of the stuff on this list is a bit odoriferous in my opinion.

You're just sore because I'm winning :)

Jeeezzzz, big market drop today,

And I'm running 3rd on zero movement for the month'

Are well, my motto seems to have it.

Tough month so far! Only 2 green entries, and only 3 on zero! (well, actually, two on zero and you on negative zero which apparently ranks you as higher than regular zero... my maths is pretty good but not sufficient to work that one out).

I'm at the bottom! Well should be, SEA no longer exist so the SP is zero. They have done a 10 for 1 consolidation which is going to throw things out when they resume the SEA ticker in about a weeks time. Will make my pick look extraordinary :)

Joe will have to discount my entry or do some maths or something.

It's hardly the first time a company has had a consolidation during the ASF tipping competition. Joe was all over it before your post :)

As an SEA holder I'd be thrilled for you to win, but without the stuff up Joe isn't in any danger of making, I doubt it's going to happen. Probably not out of the question though. Good luck :)

Cancel this suggestion Joe, I am having fun hunting these monsters from the deep! :)

I think what I will start doing is not try to win the contest but see if each month or two I can find some small potential stocks from the 500 that appear to have a good business at a fair price that I will want to keep forever. Maybe I will start a thread eventually and call it Ann's Buffet! :)

Not sure if I'm overstepping the mark here by preempting Joe, but a VERY deserved Winner came home right on the bell (in the last 10 minutes) to take the prize.

Yes, a great last minute dash by AB1 and peter2 takes out the final stock tipping competition of 2018. It was an extraordinarily difficult month for all entrants with chaos on global markets and only five of the twenty-six stocks entered finishing in positive territory. Let's hope things are better next month.

Congratulations to peter2, aus_trader and jonnycage for taking out the top three places in the December 2018 stock tipping competition! :xyxthumbs

peter2 finished in first place with a very respectable 7.14% return with AB1! In second place was aus_trader who achieved a solid 5.92% return with KGN. Rounding out the top three for December was jonnycage with MSV, which returned a handy 5.26%.

Can peter2, aus_trader and jonnycage please contact me via PM regarding their prizes.

Best of luck to all in the January competition! :)

Here are the final results for December:

I've been off-line for days and still waiting for tech support. This is a nice surprise. My first monthly win after many, many attempts. :) Clearly 2019 is going to be my year.

Congratulations, Peter! I sat in first place for most of the month right up until the second last trading day of the month. A little painful way to finish! Haha! Well done to the three who placed :) Also congratulations to So_Cynical for being the only other person to finish off green! Nasty month!
