If you go back to the series of England in in New Zealand in Feb 2022, Colin De Grandholme was runout when he left his crease after being struck on the pad. The Poms appealed, but while everyone else was looking at the umpire, Ollie Pope rushed in and ran him out.
Who was the coach? Macallum.
Who was the bowler ? Broad.
Who was the captain? Stokes.
Once again, no recall of the batsmen or withdrawing the appeal.
There were no spirit of the game discussions under any of the above except for Australia.
Stokes saying he would hate to win a game under those circumstances, and would consider withdrawing the appeal.
When he had an opportunity to do it last time, no dice.
Hypocrites that have just taken the gloss off another sensational innings by Ben Stokes, and a great effort by Australia.
Oz had a lot going against them, loss of toss, losing their second bets bowler half way through the first innings, had to bat when it was overcast and the ball moving, and bowl when the sun was shining, and putting up with partisan approach of the English- jeez they are now worse than partisan Australians.
other takeaways - the decision to include Starc was highly vindicated, Anderson is a shadow of the bowler he use to be and should quietly fade into the sunset. Josh Tongue looks like a great bowler in the making, Todd Murphy to get an unexpected call up to the team.
The other question is which of the fast bowlers will be rested apart from Starc? We have had three fairly intensive tests matches in a short time, and I reckon even Cummins will need a rest at some stage.
