More bizarre results in international cricket.
India Vs New Zealand.
India chose to bat on the second morning of the first test in Bengalaru India after the fist day was washed out.
They were promptly bowled out for the grand total of 46.
New Zealand now batting and already got to 3/161. a lead of 115 runs with7 wickets in hand.
And then there is the second test in Multan where after making a respectable but outstanding first innings of 366 , have bowled England out for 291.
They were looking pretty comfortable at 2/211 , but then lost 8 for 80 in fairly quick time, with off spin bowler Sajid Khan picking up 7/113.
Batting a second time on a pitch deteriorating a tad, Pakistan have slipped to8/209, but still with a lead of 284.
Should be an interesting finish tomorrow.

Oz Women's cricket team seem to have lost their aura of invincibility.
After going thru the round robin games of the Women's T20 world cup as the only undefeated side, they were beaten soundly by South Africa in the semi.
Australia have won six of of the eight T20 WC's, including the last three on the trot, and seemed on track to notch up no 4.
But now, if New Zealand can beat West WIndies in the other semi final, a team other than OZ, WI and England will hold the trophy.

The great Indian batting side has been bowled out for just 46 in the first test vs NZ in Bengalaru.

NZ made 402 in their first innings.

It would need a pretty good rope trick for India to get out of this one.

Sheffield shield getting under way again.
This round is important as quite a few of the test and potential test players are donning the whites.
Macus Harris, who may be the front runner for the new opening test spot now that the Smith as opener experiment has been killed off.
he scored 143 and 52 in the opening drawn match.
Admittedly it was on a very benign track where a lot of runs were scored.
Today he is up against a NSW attack that has four bowlers who have played ofr Australia, so it should be good test for him.
Sam Konstas who last week got 152 and 102 in a another drawn match on a more lively pitch, is also playing in this match and will be interesting to see how he plays against Scott Boland on the MCG track.
Of the others, Alex Carey is in sparkling form having scored 90 and 111 in the previous match, Lambshanks got a 77 ann 35 NO, Travis head got two starts but never went on. The other test players who turned up got at least one good hit out with Mitchell Marsh getting a13 and 94 Kawahja got 31 and 64 no.
Nathan lyon picked up 6 wickets for the game.
Some of the fringe players did well.
Sam Whiteman the WA captain continued on his good form from las year and scored 102 and 30.
Apart from Harris and Konstas, he is an opener that needs to be considered for higher things.
Cooper Connolly who recently made his debut with Australia in the white ball series in England, picked up 79 and a 30 No abut only bowled 4 overs.
WA keeper Josh Inglis who has also featured recently in the OZ white ball cricket, scored 102 and 48.
South Australian Captain, Nathan MCsweeney , got 55 and 127 NO,
It seemed to be a bastmens game first up, as there were some big scores posted, bu of f the bowlers, Mike Nesser took 6 wickets, cammeron Gonnon picked up a 5 fer,

Well India climbed the rope for a while, setting NZ 107 to win, but in the end it was an easy win to NZ by 8 wickets.

Impressed by the way the NZ bats handled the Indian spinners, down the wicket to them and lofting into the outfield.

When the batsmen poked around to spin they looked vulnerable. I hope the Aussie bats take note.

Great day yesterday for Nuw Zulund.
After the mens team won atest in India for the first time in 38 years, the girl black caps knocked off perrennial chokers South Africa in the final to claim the Womens World Cup.
Not bad for a nation of 4 million people.
Will be some celebration in the land of the Long White Cloud for some time.

And they also retained the America's Cup yachting mug.

An even better day.

The cricket world is in turmoil.
Firstly, just to prove the last test win was no fluke, New Zealand have beaten India again.
It means the first home series loss for India since 2012.
It was New Zealands first ever series win in India.
Santner picked up 13 wickets in the game.
Then over in Pakistan, the bazball specialists have lost two tests on the trot to Pakistan.
After the stunning innings Victory in the first test, England have been spun out in the second and third tests.

I wonder if the Indian players even care about Test cricket these days when they can earn a lot more for a lot less effort in IPL.

The India Australia A game has ended with an Australia A comfortable victory by 7 wickets.
Over the last day and a half the wicket settled down somewhat after the frenzy of he first day and a half.
The three openers who were in a playoff did not enhance their prospects.
Sam Kostas got a duck and 16 as did Cameron Bancroft.
Marcus Harris fared marginally better in that he got 17 and 36.
The one standout was captain Nathan McSweney who top scored in both innings with 39 and 88 Not Out.
he has continued on from his excellent form from last year.
At the age of 25, one might think he has potential as future Australian Captain.
Give him another year or two captaining his own state will not do any harm.
Beau Webster kept his name in front of the selectors with scores of 33 and 61 not out as well as picking up a wicket.
Would be agreat replacement for Smith when he finally retires.

Nu Zulland have pulled off a 3-0 whitewash over India by winning the 3rd Test by 25 runs having set India a mere 147 to win.

The Indian batsmen were taken apart by spinners Ajaz Patel and Glen Phillips on pitches they were supposed to be experts on.

Another great day for NZ.

Another record broken, it is the first time in Indian cricket history that they have lost a home series 3-0.
Before the series started, you probably could have gotten odds of 50 to 1 against that happening.

Mini test match between Australia A and India A at the MCG starts today.
MCG pitch has been pretty spicy this year, thanks to a new curator from WA.
Australia sent India in to bat after winning the toss.
Michael nesser took 2 wickets in his first over and a further one in his his second.
Boland took one in his first over, that of the big one K Rahul.
India in a spot of bother at 4/18.

Australia duly won the second match by 7 wickets with Sam Konstas finally showing his class.
meanwhile the Australia A side has served up some of the poorest cricket ever seen by a side representing Australia.
We damn lucky to win the first ODI, got soundly thrashed in the second one, and look like being equally well beaten in the third.
It will be the firt time in 22 years that Pakistan have beaten Australia in any series in our own backyard.

I blame IPL.
