Well what a finish to a test!
8 runs in the end, oz on the losing side of it, but it has to be a great advertisement for test cricket.
WI team supposedly hopelessly outclassed, and led by a newcomer with a broken toe who takes 7/68 after bowling 12 overs on the trot.
Unbelievable effort, this bloke is a name to watch.
Whats he going to be like when he gets a bit of experience!
Steve Smith almost pulled it off finishing with 91 NO and carried his bat through the innings.
Will be talked about for along time.

Yes, Fortress Gabba has been destroyed!

Well done Windies, hopefully they are on their way back, although their batting looks a bit weak.

That may be the last Test played there for a while I believe as it's going to get a 1 billion dollar makeover for the Olympics.

Good to see someone has the money for important stuff.

Was anyone at the ground? I think I saw Joe Blow there but that was it. Best case 500. Should have played it at Wagga Wagga.

I was like many others who bagged the Australian cricket selectors who kept picking Mitch Marsh, despite his obvious failings.
Now, along with all the others, I have had to eat my words along with humble pie washed down with a pint of bile.
I now have severe bouts of indigestion.
Mitch marsh won the Alan Border medal, crickets, Brownlow, as the best (male) player in Australian Cricket.
Perhaps selectors do know a thing or two.

I'm still unsure about Marsh.

He will have good days and bad days like everyone else but his value in the long term is still unproven imo.

I think he is an unrestrained batsman, but his capability to get us out of scrapes needs to be developed. He can do a lot of good things and is worth sticking with.

Last Saturday when the WI beat Australia in the second test, the South African women won their first ever ODI against Australia in Australia. So thats 0-2 to OZ.
At the same time, the Australian U19 side were participating in the round robin matches for the U19 World cup in South Africa.
Luckily for our us, they saved Oz getting the losing trifecta, when they beat England quite handsomely.
There are some very good up and coming youngsters in the side, probably none better than the captain Hugh Weibgen whose scores in the tournament so far have been 39NO , 68 , 3 , 120. 22.
Sam Konstas is an opener, not far behind with scores of 1,45,23,0 108 .
Fast bowler Callum Vidler has hade quite a few batsmen groping with his pace, and off spinner Raf macMillan has taken wickets in every game he has bowled and scored some handy runs.
The real test is about to start as they enter the semi finals as the only team apart from India who have not lost a match through the group stages.
But it does look promising for the future.

Oz U19 boys have just pipped Pakistan in the semi final to go onto play India in the U19WC final on Saturday.
Won with 9 wickets down and 7 balls to spare.
Future looking OK for OZ cricket.

Sri Lanka and Afghanistan have just completed an extraordinary 50 overs game where a total of 720 runs were scored.
Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka become the first male for his country to score a double hundred in an ODi when he finished 210 not out in Sri Lanka's total of 3/381.
Afhganistan in reply had slumped to 5/55 after 8 overs, then lost its sixth wicket at 297.
Their final total of 6/339 was their higest ever ODI score, andf would win 9 out of ten ODI matches.
The score is the 15th highest losing score in all mens ODI games.

Maxi doing maxi things with a score of 120 NO.
Hit the highest T20 score in Australia, and fourth highest in all countries.
He now has 5 T20 centuries, with the next best Aaron Finch with 2.

Good weekend for Oz cricket.
U19 beat India easily in U19 World Cup Final. Well done boys.
The Women's team beat South Africa in the second ODI.
And the mens team knocked off the WI in the final T20.
All is well with the world.

Got to give some credit to the Windies batsmen.

2 scores of over 200 in a T20 even though they lost is not a bad effort.

There is some strange goings on in New Zealand.
South Africa are touring New Zealand to play two tests and a few T20 matches.
Most of the big boys opted to stay at home in Sth Africa to play in their domestic 20/20 comp.
It meant that the touring South African team had six players who made a debut in this series,
In the current game, the team has a total of 41 matches of test experience, compared to the NZ team with an even 400 test matches.
NZ won the first test quite easily, though they are struggling in the second test.
If they are struggling on their home turf against what is basically a Sth African seconds team, they will probably find the Oz mens team a bit too much for them at this stage.
