Australia have WI 3 for 64 at lunch after winning the toss and surprisingly electing to bowl.
Meanwhile, Finn Allen of Nuw Zulund is had a bit of a day out in the third T20 in Dunedin.
137 off 62 balls with 5 fours and 16 (yes sixteen) sixes.
Not a bad knock.
By finishing on 7/224 of the 20 overs, the kiwis have broken their previous record for the highest T20 score at the ground.

OZ batters not faring much better than their WI counterparts.
The first instalment of Smith as an opener did not pan out so well, but it is early days yet.
After having the WI at 9/133, they allowed the last wicket pair to add 50 more runs.
Still 188 is not a great first innings total, but its not so bad when Oz have slumped to 4/113.
It is becoming a consistent problem for Australia.
They just cannot seem to bowl out the tail when they have cleaned up the top/middle order.
Happened against India, Pakistan twice, now West Indies.

4/124
The West Indies junior squad are doing OK.
Reckon we will get above 300 though.

Crikey, I go out for lunch, come back and look whats happened.
head makes a quickfire brutal 119, Oz still all out for an tad below 300, but eke out a 95 run lead.
Shamar Joseph, after a belligerent 36 at no 9 in his first test innings, gets a wicket with his first ball in tests, and gets a michelle in his first completed innings.
Unfortunately, his compatriots could not feed off his great effort, and already 3 down and still 87 runs behind making Australia bat again.
In his last 23 overs over two tests, Hazlewood has taken 10/23.
Good reward for consistency.

This is turning into a 2 day test. Where's the Windies of old?
When I saw the score on the T.V, I thought it was a 20 over match, then when they bowled the 20th over, I thought it must be a 50 over match.
But I was only having one beer quiet beer at the pub, so when I heard it was the first innings of a test, I was shocked to say the least. 🤣

What a debacle. Not sure what's happened to West Indies cricket. Maybe all the countries in the grouping a going through some tough financial times and can't keep the games development funding going. One of the commentators said they were even struggling to prepare pitches. But, you don't need to be a rocket surgeon or have a lot of cash to roll a lump of turf. Maybe it's just a phase but we need a strong Windies for World test cricket. Otherwise it's Australia, India, England the then daylight.

It's about having enough money to entice good players to play cricket in the first place not soccer or basketball, and then when they get good keeping them from going to IPL.

IPL is a pernicious influence on the game and will destroy Test cricket unless something is done.

Will Pucovski has been hit in the head AGAIN playing for Victoria second 11, and has had to retire hurt.
This must be 10 or 11th time he has been hit,
Surely by now he must give up playing cricket.
He has a pretty obvious problem against the short ball.

They should get him in the nets with a bowling machine bowling tennis balls so he can sharpen his technique with a reduced chance of injury.

Batpersons who played the game prior to the introduction of helmets and other protective gear must laugh at the current crop of players getting hit in the head.
There just seems to be a lack of technique in playing the short ball these days.
Perhaps helmets have given them a false sense of security.

I don't recall Viv Richards getting hit on the head and he never wore a helmet even when facing Lillee and Thompson.

Australia 4/38. We should have just put our Australia A team in.

At least they're wearing uniforms with the Coat of Arms on it and not a combined Aboriginal/Hamas flag.
