The MCC traditionally puts a lump of concrete in the middle of the ground but for some reason this year they've scattered small IEDs throughout it. It's almost dangerous. Lucky a Thompson or Lee aren't bowling, it'd be carnage.

The Oz bowlers were not doing much this morning.
Pakistan bowlers bowling a fuller length and reaping the rewards.

Opening the batting is a specialist position, that requires a specific temperament.
Green has not opened at any level of first class, and from what I have read, not even at club level.
It would also most likely kill off his bowling.
Pretty hard to open and still bowl fast at second or third change.
We have plenty of specialist openers, and it most not be forgotten that Kawaja, at 37, is the same age as Warner, and is unlikely to have too many years left in him.
Wo we will have an entirely new opening pair sometime in the year or two.
Cannot afford to give Green the time to grow into the role"

Just to reinforce the advantage that playing at home seems to give most teams, India have been humiliated by South Africa by an innings and 32 runs.
South Africa have not set the world on fire at least at test level, and India have been arguably the best test playing nation over the past few years.

Disappointing that that is only a 2 Test series.

Tests are certainly being deprecated these days.

Smith started as a leg spinner...

Pakistan blames "technology" and "poor umpiring" for Test loss.

Nothing to do with dropped catches or great bowling by Australia.

Nor the fact that they gave away 52 and 16 in sundries in while Australia gave up 23 and 11.
Pakistan fielding and catching hile an im[rovement on the frist day, was still below what you would expect of first class cricketers today.
Very rarely does one incident decide a match, its usually a pile up of things.
But it helps management if you can blame something external, takes the pressure of them.

Poor darts from the coach. Un-cricket like. I think the Captain said something which saves them. Still, there was no 'rub of the green' in this match. The losers lost.

Ref Warner replacement, news commentators talking about Green coming back in but someone else moving to be opener. Maybe the Lab? I would prefer a dedicated opener but I really like the idea of two all rounders (three if you include Cummings) in the team.

Steve Smith gets his wish to open for Australia.

Matt Renshaw added to the team, so I would not be surprised to see Green back in for Warner as Steve SMith goes to opener.
Gotta feel sorry for Bancroft.
Led the shield run scorers the past two seasons as an opener.
Renshaw has not set the world on fire, so ya gotta ask why was he selected over bancroft?
There have been persistent rumours that the other team members have never forgiven him for the his role in sandpapergate.
Smith and Warner, no problem, but Bancroft, no way.
George Bailey has denied this is the reasons, but if not that what the hell is the reason?
I really can't see why you would not replace one opener with another opener who has topped the shield tables two years in a row.
So much for shield form.

Prakhar Chteuvedi has hit 404 NO in the Indian equivalent of the Australian Under 19 interstate competition.
Somewhat surprisingly, young Prakhar was not chosen for the Indian U19 team currently in South Africa preparing or the U19 world cup.
Might get a late call up.
