Australian Politics General...

That is just a slanderous outrageous post, if it happened to my daughter I would be furious, and I would have taken it straight to the police.
Which she didn't, or she didn't mention it to her family, or her family didn't mention it to the police.

You seem to have all the answers, maybe you could enlighten us.
IF it happened there should be a retrail, in the public interest and if he did it, he should be put in jail, simple.

It's appalling that two people who behaved badly have and likely will be rewarded, with taxpayers money.

Didn't the minister just sue Higgins for what you are claiming the minister did?
You appear to be letting yoir emmotions and obvious bias cloud your judgement, as often happens these days.
When have I said the girl should just suck it up?
When have I said pretend it didn't happen?

That's what you lot are saying by paying out money and saying now run along and say nothing about it.
I am outraged that you think she is the one who behaved appallingly. She went to the minister as she was a loyal Liberal and was told not to go to the police.

I am going to leave it at that. You can keep regularly slagging her in your posts and I will shut up.

I haven't slagged her at all, I've said they both behaved badly.
Your saying she was raped and he did it, if it was as simple as that he would be in jail.
You're the one slagging off, by intimating every person accused of rape is quilty and also making slanderous statements about the minister which Higgins was sued for.
Your obviously not very objective with your opinions, but have a fanatical belief in them and their accuracy.

This issue is just highlighting the behaviour that goes on, in the institutions most hold in the highest respect.
Just mind blowingly bad behaviour and a complete lack of moral compasses IMO.

This is exactly where I'm comming from, bad behaviour breeding more bad behaviour, from those who are supposedly setting the standards we plebs are meant to aspire to.
Because it's the taxpayer that funds it. OMG.

If the only good thing that comes out of this whole sordid mess, is that the obvious cesspool of politics and the media is laid bare, it has been a huge step forward for Australia.

What's he talking about?
Fuuurk. "Just *leaving* this here.

Menzies is prophesying about the ludicrous appointment of a particularly political GG.

It matters not what wing of politics, but interesting that the most overtly politician appointment ever, is from and to, the extreme left.

Archbishop Hollingsworth ?
Close, but no cigar.

Archbishopness (sic) although possibly/probably flawed does seek to represent all of us. One can criticize the appointment, but we can observe the Anglican church as making an effort to embrace all from various political ideologies.

I would argue that the Anglican church is very firmly on the far left side of politics and is exactly why I am a refugee from it, as detailed in other threads. It was in no way, as you seem to imply, a right wing appointment. Certainly not as far right as this woman is far left.

This woman is so overtly extremely left wing, so postmodern, so Neo Marxist, that there can be no doubt as to what her actual agenda is. She is well known for explicitly stating it

This woman, borrowing a phrase from the Bible is like the abomination that causes desolation for exactly half of our population.

This is antithetical to the role of governor general in our system.

I agree she is very woke and I would have preferred someone like a retired High Court judge, but I think it comes down to the fact that politicians can't be trusted to appoint someone suitable and our Head of State should be popularly elected.

I think that there is a spectrum in the Anglican church. Some are Lefties (Tim Costello, even though he is a Baptist, but close enough), but I think the heirarchy of most Christian churches are Conservatives these days, think about the late Pell who was supported by Tony Abbott and there are few Righter than him in mainstream politics.
