Australian (ASX) Stock Market Forum

I'd have thought that it'd be more of the same.
It seems to be all about the optics of a new face. She's not well known, and didn't sit on the meetings that determine the interest rates, but is a RBA insider, not a political appointment. What does that mean? To manage several committees, rates just being one, and perhaps have some flexibility to not be browbeaten by the orthodoxy. There is the independent review t h at needs to be implemented.

Reporting season (Aug23) has started with a few surprises and I think there's going to be plenty more.
Short term traders be on your toes and check the news schedules.
indeed the IGO impairment announcement , might easily be a hint of things to come , but will it be only in the mining/energy sector

Bad wind coming out of every orifice, UMike. Can you find a holiday thread and tell us about your travels to Vietnam lately? That'll be one piece of happy news.

Been back nearly 3 weeks now.
Good trip but Lost alot of value on the Share market while I was away.

Work extremely Slow.
Good news..... Seems Thailand have a very big order (for cheaper machines) so "shared" production of the more complex machines will now go to Australia for a bigger portion. We manufacture many parts and they have geared up for it. So there is vision and anticipation of more trade.

Welcome back, Mike. Did you go to Halong Bay or Halong by land? The latter is a place with man made canals and rowed by women through narrow and low arches (challenging for the claustophobic)

Market has dropped a lot. Seems too many bad news everywhere I looked yesterday. One of Xi having problems and discord on the domestic front.

That's a piece of good news....anticipation of more trades...I welcome that, Mike, good luck.

Hanio, Sapa, Ha Giang, Halong Bay. Yea I did a tour thingy. Older women and men rowed the boat. was lucky On the "boat" was a Vietnamese student (noteworthy for the communication aspect). We both had a go rowing. He couldn't get us to move. I only managed about a minute (was more difficult due to height difference.) even if the setup was perfect I'd have lasted 5 minutes tops. these guys rowed almost 3 hours. Most I have ever tippped. Made sure the Vietnamese student relayed my concerns about not doing this job every day due to wear and tear on the body. Def a highlight. Cat Ba, Nihm Bihn, Hanio for a day and Ca Bang (Ban Gioc waterfall). Mostly on Motor Bike.

Most Vietnamese and Country Thais live a tough life. We are sooooo lucky.

I gathered that, Mike.

Was told yesterday that since Covid, we have started making toilet paper too....things are changing
Yes, Kirkland Signature toilet rolls from Cosco...made in Australia
Needed a re-read from me as I thought it wasn't that clear. we manufacture top quality parts here. Something we can be proud of.

Not sure things are changing that much. But I don't know enough about street level manufacturing in Australia anymore.
And of the businesses I am still in contact with have terribly unreliable staff of dubious quality.

Not changing much, but slowlyin a positive way ...and some things have gone slower than pre Covid (gone backwards) Tell me about unreliable staff of dubious quality! Can drive one to drinks.

Wow, sorry I missed your reply, UMike....only seen it now.
Amazing you can remember the name of those places (not the easiest to remember)
It's a tough life for some unfortunately....indeed, we are lucky. So happy to read that you were generous to that poor fella...and haha, he couldn't get you to move...
