Australian (ASX) Stock Market Forum

Two-way block

It is a sad state of affairs when I am the only person on ASF who is not nuts, and that includes @Joe Blow, who tolerates his rude, intolerant and antisocial behaviour which is harmful to decent members ( of whom I do not include myself ) of ASF.

I have had my own issues with aspects of Captain Chaza's conduct and I have addressed that with him privately. I won't hesitate to do so again should I need to.

As for "nuts", well I prefer the term eccentric. Perhaps I have known too many eccentric characters, ratbags and weirdos in my life to care much if someone wants to be a pirate. Is a pirate any more of a weirdo than many of the conspiracy theorists around these days?

Captain Chaza has won the monthly competition at least a couple of times recently and has his own form of analysis which means something to him. So in my view he is here at ASF for a genuine purpose. Nothing wrong with a splash of colour here and there in life. Like everyone else at ASF he somehow found his way here and is posting away happily in his own thread and some others.

Being kind and understanding doesn't cost anything. It's tough enough getting through life. if choosing to live life as a pirate or a ship's captain (I'm not quite sure which to be honest) makes things a little easier for someone then so be it. I'm happy to let people be who they want to be as long as they can obey the rules and conduct themselves in a respectful way.

For those who think differently, block away.

Fully agree, I just hope the captain will see the light and lighten his block obsession, but he will not see my post so I doubt me saying this will change anything.
In no way would I even suggest any type of sanctions.he is what he is, I just question his purposes
And I genuinely wonder how many active members are left unblocked by the admiral..(spelling corrected in edit)

Thank you @Joe Blow

I have had time to reflect on some of my posts on this forum and now believe that they may have caused distress and withdraw them.

Intolerance and hurtful words harm all, both those who utter them and those who are the recipients. I agree that the world is composed of all sorts, including as you have given an example supposed pirates or master mariners. What matters is not any absolute assessment of a persons personality, words or motives which is in fact impossible, but rather the ability to all behave with the best of their ability to increase the common good and improve the well being of all not just on this forum but in society as a whole. And not just with those with whom one agrees nor has a natural empathy or affinity. If it gives a person a means to navigate life to have a persona on this forum, then so be it. It certainly helps me to do so which must irritate some.

Words hurt.

The capacity to block the words and opinions of people with whom one disagrees or is irritated by is valuable and should be availed of, rather than piling hurt upon individuals of whom one has no idea of their background, life nor circumstances. It does take little to be kind and life is short.

I do also value your moderation and professionalism and apologise for making those tasks more difficult.

Once again my apologies to you and any members of ASF hurt by my words. The dual blocking mechanism is a good one. I will avail of it more.

I'm glad you're better, farmerge. Have a good rest over the weekend, you've earned it....see you Monday, take care.
eskys no rest this weekend. finishing off what was started today and then off to Cunderdin tomorrow,to do an "experts" appraisal on damaged fencing etc on a farm there, caused by the ex-leasee having a dummy spit. This will cost him some serious coin.

I believe the Sewer Sailor to be Nuts.

I believe any of youse who engage with him to be nuts.

New title for gg Comdian.
love the term sewer sailor though, that's got got to be worth a few belly laughs.

Bit hard to follow at times, I 'll agree but like Mr. Skate , I figured out long ago , that this whacky poster has got his own dough where his big mouth is. ( beaucoup de respect de ma part )
So , for that important reason , I'll continue to sit up straight and pay attention. Just not got to annoy the dude , that's all !
Best of luck, doesn't take much to make him snap

Apart from logging out on a different browser and comparing posts to a logged in account, what is the secret sauce on working out who has blocked me.

Is there a button I can press that says "People who have blocked you because you are an intolerant right/left wing, misogynist/woke, godbothering/atheistic, person/sob ?

Just so's I can finalise the invite list for when I win Oz Lotto next week.

Words hurt.
A life observation is humans have the tendency to assume others are much like themselves.

Those who are very hard to offend tend to assume others are likewise hard to offend.

Those who are honest tend to assume others will be honest.

Those who see x as more important than anything else tend to assume others also see x as highly important.

Etc.

Failure to recognise that this isn't actually the case is something very easily done, especially online in a text based format where the other person's body language can't be seen, and that makes it easy to misunderstand how someone else is truly feeling about what's being written.

With that in mind, none of my posts are intended to offend anyone but as someone who's rather hard to offend myself, there's a fair chance I've unintentionally overstepped the mark at some point from someone's perspective without realising it. My apologies if so.

Cheers

@Smurf1976, your remarks are spot on.

The Aussie Stock Forum should be a community where members feel respected and be able to engage in constructive discussions without fear of ridicule or personal attacks where diverse perspectives are valued and respected, even when we disagree. By fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity, members will feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and opinions, and where we can all learn from each other.

Skate.

Mr Smurf
Since i have been in ASF only for a short while, I have not found any of your remarks or posts offensive.
Therefore no apology is necessary.:)

For the one I have not blocked yet, I have the feeling people use, or seem to believe that blocking is used when people are offended , a bit of a knee jerk reaction. Under anger, stress etc...
It might be.
I do not pretend to be typical but my important blocks ( not of the spammers but of long-term posters) are actually the opposite.
The result of long exchanges/reads and the decision of blocking is based on this history/experience:
A person is dishonest,
arrogant to the point of unbearable, unethical
or does not bring anything to exchanges as too brainwashed/ indoctrinated to see outside a narrow circle.
And as my questionable block does not fit these criteria, I unblock him now😊

Thanks Froggie. But I could still see your posts.
