The Harris Presidency

One of the more stunning parts of this landscape is that since the palace coup that toppled Biden, neither the existing President, nor the existing Vice President who has now become the democrat presidential nominee, has even conducted a press conference, much less answered any questions put to them by reporters.
Its almost as if the whole thing is done is a vacuum, with only the MSM political analysts and myriad of keyboard warriors on social media to give their utterances.
The US is about to go into a potential war with Iran, Russia, Houtis, Syria and others, but nix from the people running the joint.
It would appear secretary of state Anthony Blinken, an appointed bureaucrat, who has never face the electors in his country, has carte blanche to do whatever he wants.
Its weird.

It must be hard for the multinational bosses to run the business and foreign affairs at the same time, probably delegated foreign affairs down the ladder, the trolley boys association are probably running that department. 🤣

Hmm situation normal for the US neocons ran Bush only ended up killing a few million :(

Realistically as SP alluded to it all possibly comes back to the donor class on policy.

I just hope the U.S finds a bit of morality, eventually.
For all of Australia's failings, the underlying thread is we actually do care, well I think we do.
Time will tell.

The Trump train has been trying to smear Tim Walz's military career. Total BS.

Adam Kinzinger who also served in the National Guard explains just however much BS is in the attempted smears on Tim Walz.
Excellent view if only to gain and understanding of the administrative protocals around military service.

WoW scratch the eyes out serious stuff.

It's amazing how passionate you guys get. 🤣 🤣

Let's get back to basics, Biden in no way was in charge of anything including personal things we can't talk about.

Trump, in no way can create chaos because he deems it, he will be given the ultimatum that Joe was given.

At the end of the day, it boils back to a Trump style rhetoric of demanding China pull their heads in and start and play the game, or tariffs will be cranked up.

Or more of the same, where the multinationals continue to make a huge amount of money and crank up the aero industry and military chaos to make a motza out of arms sales on top of everything else.

It seems basically flick the bird at China and wear the consequences, or more of the same and wear more of the same same slow slide down.

Fortunately for Australia, we don't have the same amount of population, so with a resource based economy we can carry the social cost for longer, until the population starts to hit the bottom line.

That's just looking at media coverage and making a summation from what I read and I do know I will have zip affect on the outcome and I care even less about it. 🥳

It is interesting that those most passionate about this issue, are most passionate about most other issues, obviously very passionate people. :xyxthumbs

With tariffs there has been little difference between parties in fact as a generalisation with foreign policy it doesnt change greatly between any of the administrations and hasn't for some time.

The stuff being served up about Walz really is weird.

The misogamy comments about Harris are also noted 😞

Well if that's the case, there is hope which ever way it goes.

One thing for sure, whichever party wins has got a huge problem on its hands, a disenfranchised middle class at home, facing a major supplier of goods(China) which fast surpassing the U.S in all metrics, from manufacturing to military.

The issue is which party has an addiction to Chinese manufacturing, because there will be a lot of pain felt in the U.S breaking the addiction to cheap Chinese goods, it will cause a lot of inflationary pain trying to relocate manufacturing to a higher cost base.

But if the U.S wants to force China to compete on a level playing field and give their workers similar living standards to the U.S, it seems to be the only way forward.

But there will be U.S companies that manufacture in China that will be hit also, they wont be happy, as they weren't last time Trump was in.
Another alternative is to bring in huge amounts of immigrant workers, to bring down the cost of labour, to meet the production costs of China.
