The Harris Presidency

There is talk that Harris will choose Pensylvannia governor Josh Shapiro as her running mate for VP in the up coming election.
That has created a couple of problems for him and her.
Wehn Harris asked what has JD Vance done for the country , his obvious ersponse was that he volunteered for military service with the marines and served in Iraq.
On the servie that seems a good rsponse, except for the fact that his service was effectively in the press corps as a combat correspondant, rather than as grunt soldier that many would have assumed his service consisted of when he talks of serving his country.
Shapiro had also spread the story about his volunteer service, except in his case it was a volunteer with the IDF.
He has now "walked back" that claim, as it does not suit the current narrative. (see Daily Beast )
Scratch a career politician, find a consumate liar.

Well, well, well even if strapped to the rack these bods couldn't be straightened out.

I reckon it will Mark Kelly, former astronaut, based in Arizona and has first hand experience of border problem, also not a lawyer so has a different viewpoint to Harris.

His wife, Gabby Giffords, an ex politician, was shot in the head by Republican pro gun nut and he has a twin brother who can act as a decoy should he be next!😆.

Kamahl really is a lightweight candidate. It is a shame Sleepy Joe didn't get out of the race because of his dementia earlier. Another Democrat would be better than Kamahl.

In would question that assertion.
Jarrod Loughnan who shot Cliffords along with a huge number of others was not pro republican based on what I read..
According to Wiikipedia , and All that is interesting he uhad no history of political leanings. .
His friends said he did not support either republican or democrats.
He most certainly was a nut, hated governments and in particular Cliffords, believed that 9/11 was an inside job and that governments were into mind control.
He was not a gun owner until shortly before the attack, so we don't know if he was pro gun or not.
He abused alchohol and hallucinatory drugs.
All in all, he had little going for him.
But despite what some folks biases might suggest, that does not make him a republican.

@mullokintyre Just an out and out nut case where easy to get guns shows the result.
Interesting side track. On TV news last night footage showing a mountain of guns from the recent buy-back. Easily 3-4 semi loads.

So Harris has chosen Tim Waltz as her VP.
A good choice, he is a good plain speaker, the very antithesis of the verbose Harris.
It was he who during a cable news interview first put out the label "weird" to decribe Republican candidates, which of course has since gone on to become the derisory label of choice for the democrats and their lackeys in the MSM.
Coming from Connecticut, he is about as far removed from the LA democrat set that you could get.
We now have to wait for the republican machine to start digging the dirt on him.

Yep all done

The Trump campaign and leading Republicans have launched their first attacks on Tim Walz, labelling him as "far left", "dangerously liberal" and a "radical".
...Donald Trump was quick to claim on social media, without evidence, that Mr Walz would "unleash HELL ON EARTH and open our borders to the worst criminals".

But Trump supporters can be more sophisticated than just screaming "Dangerous Liberal"
There is a selectively edited Waltz interview for example already making the rounds.

In a 2016 interview with an agriculture publication, he said he'd been to China about 30 times.

"I don't fall into the category that China necessarily needs to be an adversarial relationship," he said in the interview. "I totally disagree, and I think we need to stand firm on, what they're doing in the South China Sea, but there's many areas of cooperation that we can work on."

An edited clip of that clip is now being shared on social media by some of Trump's supporters, but without mention of the year it was shot, and cut to remove his comment on the South China Sea.

This discussion on Tim Waltz by Van Jones is worth a look.
He points out Tim is also a "populist" politician. His populism however is positive not negative.. Makes a huge difference

Be prepared for all sorts of bull**** claims.
Somebody claimed that Vance wrote in his memoirs (what sort of an ego writes memoirs when you havent even reached middle age?) that Vance had performed a sex act with a latex glove stuffed between the cushions on a couch.
They even quoted the chapter, page and line. (see Snopes ).
Problem is, there is no such thing on the page quoted, nor indeed in any chapter of the book.
But it does not stop the Keyboard Warriors constantly quoting it, to the point where it has a life of its own.
And unfortunately, in his acceptance speech, Waltz had a less than subtle crack at Vance over the couch issue. (see Acceptance speech )
But the last thing we want to do is let facts, real or perceived get in the way of a good line.
Creates great gags though.

For those who think that Kamala Harris will be the saviour of the world.
In the 2020 primaries, she got zero delegates and withdrew from the primary early after copping a severe mauling from Tulsi Gabbard. (see NBCNEWS )
In the 2024 primaries, before Biden pulled the pin, she had zero delegates, and no one was pushing her barrow.
She was parachuted into the role without having to test the mood of the electors.
Its never happened before, so we are in unchartered waters, but if history is anything to go by, it is unlikely that she will be filling voters with confidence.
