Well Good Cap't these are extremely wise words, but I wonder just how many would actually take heed as they sail off into the setting sun.Sailing the Global Exchanges Is the Greatest Sport of All
Both for Participants and Spectators
As we on the Good Ship "HMAS Ship of Fools" are rejoicing in a few great wins it Must be remembered that
"Safety at Sea Is Paramount"
NB: Never sail with 100% of Sails presented to the Wind
Not even if you think it is the best of times
Black Swan Events Happen!
and let's face it
They Happen Quite OFTEN
It's is always wise IMO to put some monies aside for a future Float
Otherwise you might have to go back on the land and get a JOB
This could slow you down by 5- 10 years and even more to go a Sailing Again
Crikey!
I talked to a friend recently with $100,000 to go a sailing on the ASX and advised him in no uncertain terms
Keep 20% in $Cash ( Preferably USD but AUD is OK ) for a Rainy Day / Black Swan Event
I said
"If you can't WIN any meaningful prize Monies with $80,000 then the extra $20,000 won't make much of a difference now "
But More Importantly you may be able to Set Sail Again when the Dust Settles in the short term"
