Yes, local groups were raging about this 5 days ago...when it. Was still time to actWhoever is in charge of these dams have had a very long time to release water in an orderly manner. Maybe there's a very good reason that they didn't? Or, they didn't learn anything from the last Brisbane River flood.

Seven southeast Queensland dams are overflowing and nearly 350,000 homes and businesses in the region have lost power, as ex-tropical cyclone Alfred continues to hover off the coast.
The rain is starting to pick up in Brisbane, and 295,732 properties are without power in Queensland, mostly on the Gold Coast and on Brisbane’s bayside.
Brisbane’s drinking water sources – the gated Wivenhoe and Somerset Dams – are not releasing water, but seven other ungated dams in the region are spilling, including Enoggera Dam, Cedar Pocket Dam and the Gold Coast’s Hinze Dam.
Residents in the Redlands region are being told to conserve drinking water after Seqwater pumping stations lost power overnight.
“The water is safe to drink, but tropical cyclone Alfred has caused disruption in the water network,” Seqwater said.
“When it is safe to do so, our crews will travel to site and undertake restoration work which should result in the return of water supply to affected customers as soon as possible.”
In NSW, there are about 42,600 properties without power, mostly between Tweed Heads and Grafton.
Essential Energy told customers that crews would start to work to restore power only when it was safe.
“Weather conditions are predicted to deteriorate this afternoon and into the evening that is expected to bring more rain and hamper electricity restoration efforts,” the utility said.
Our turn is tomorrow, plenty to fill whatever could have been released from dam.most the rain from this event has fallen in NSW and will continue to, as the now-East coast low tracks south.
how do you release water from a spillway?Whoever is in charge of these dams have had a very long time to release water in an orderly manner. Maybe there's a very good reason that they didn't? Or, they didn't learn anything from the last Brisbane River flood..

please don't link me with basConfused about the above two posts from @basilio and @Dona Ferentes
When was water released from the dams that could release water?
I thought Wivenhoe was the most critical dam to be managed. Maybe it's not going to matter.

Most if not all dams have a release mechanism, wivenhoe definitely had one, and most dams are used as water network sources which can be diverted back.how do you release water from a spillway?

Can we now agree RIP Alfred?
He was a late bastard, talking big, acting small and cowardish
He is just leaving behind an ugly track of muddy festering debris and billions of costs for the insurers.
But a nice boost to the GDP next quarter.
ALP will boast
Albo didn't want a destructive force named after him?Not sure if further flooding can be discounted. It might turn around and come back too.
Any conspiracy theories on how TC Anthony changed into TC Affred?
