NSW Election 2023

What did he actually say? I cannot find any quotes.
Don't know, but according to News daily
Some posts referred to homosexuality as “perversion”, another said “homosexuality activists and the Palestinian terrorists are aligned” and others perpetuated COVID-19 conspiracy theories.
Hardly seems earth shattering, but I an sure " Someone" would be offended.

Seems a bit of a thick statement to even say.
I was talking to someone in the Liberal Party and it is really hard to get good candidates. Unfortunately, most of the people they would like aren't members and many of the ones they have aren't much good.

How about some actual quotes, rather than trial by aspersions?

Anyone?

I can't find any direct quotes all all.
I presume you are talking about the homophobic and islamaphobic jibes that Squires is alleged to have said, tweeted, written or maybe thought.
If anyone reprinted them they would also get into trouble.
Sorry, can't help any further.
Mick

In that case, the left can assume anything it likes.

I'd like the facts first.

That sort of stuff is usually taken down real quick so maybe the dude that's demanding more info should do their own research :)

A political party doesn't usually dis-endorse a candidate one week prior to an election without a good reason.

Meanwhile...

Wonder how many votes the IMOP will pick up thanks to the imposed Covid lockdowns and perceived vaccine deception.

Old mate Friendly Jordies reckons "Get rid of 'em"

My take on the result is, as a party rarely contines to govern after a dozen or so years, I'm tending to think that a minor labor govt. will ensue and they'll have to cozy up to an unusally broad independent contingent.

Am in two minds whether to Early Vote/Pre Poll or not as the booth is just down from where I work. Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Vote early and vote often ;)

...and done and dusted.

@wayneL, bad enough having to vote once but anymore, they'd have to pay me, lol.

Seems the west switched. I wonder why? Anyone live there?

Perrotet seemed a gentleman. Hope the new government do a good job. They had major corruption last time.

At last, hoorah, now we can stop the States blaming the Feds and the Feds blaming the States, now we get what we get, no blame game politics.
Nah, for a while at least you can still blame the previous government.
Fed Labour Blamed the Coalition for the Optus Attack
Chris Bowen Blames gas crisis on the coalition
Tanya Plibersek Blames coaliton for 1 billion in Environmental Damage .
Anthony Albanese Blames the coaliton for the entire energy crisis.
Labour in NSW has months of blaming the coalition to go yet.

Biggest policy difference so far is housing tax.

Coalition wants first home buyers to have a choice of either paying stamp duty or a land tax. I don't like the land tax because as I understand it, once a house is on it, it's stuck with it and that tax will increase as the land value increases. It's exactly the wrong thing to do because it's just another recurring expense for people who struggle with loan repayments.

Labor wants to drop the stamp duty outright for property under $800k. I don't really like that either because it'll stuff the budget... the vast majority of NSW budget surpluses over the last 20 years were from stamp duty windfalls. So expect your greenslip and rego to go up instead.

In terms of scandals both sides are full of it and both have played a role in bringing down their federal Govts (Gillard and Morrison). If Labor gets in it'll be more of the same.

Having said that I think people are looking for change after 12 years of the Coalition. People complaining about lack of wage growth might remember the rot started with this Govt when they froze public service payrises at 2.5% and that cancer then spread into the private sector and ultimately attributed to the LNP loosing the federal election. When you combine this with ridiculous housing prices in NSW you can see the Dom Govt suffering the same fate.

Anyone got any recommendations who we should vote for ? Asking for a friend :)

Nah never ask a friend, just the bloke/lady in the mirror

Not a good start for Perrotet, but I guess he was young and we all make mistakes.

Sir R just seen this post from Jan. NSW Premier DP wearing a Nazi uniform. Should have been jailed for doing it. My dear old departed Dad would have been turning in his grave, that is if he had not been cremated, over something like this. I would think this sort of brain dead r attitude would have upset many, many people, and i am one of them.

You called it PZ and from what I have read the correct reasons.

I thought it was quite telling that Labour never brought this gaffe up during the election campaign. Classy. I gather Perrott fessed up because it seems it was going to come out anyway.
If everyone was going to made "accountable" for how they dressed up at a 21st fancy dress party there would be no one left in politics.
