Victorian election 2022

Heh heh... let's not forget what happened last time the Libs were in power - one term Govt, Two Premiers and a state recession to boot. Plus they had Tony Abbott as PM at the time.... all the right ingredients for another three term Labor Govt voted in by the silent majority as opposed to the noisy / violent extremists with toxic ideologies and solid bodily waste for brains.

Stiff sheet award goes to Abbott, Howard, Kennett, Credlin, Bolt, Murray, Dutton and all the other haters..

Not even Murdoch could save them... as previously stated - Aussies are smarter than that

Perrottet does have some policies. He wants to replace stamp duty on property with an annual land tax and has pushed this through as a choice for first home buyers.
I'm unconvinced either way but it's an actual policy to do something yes, agreed there.

Tasmania's another one. The Liberals there have often clashed with the federal party, at times quite firmly so, but they do at least have policies and are in government.

Federally though and most other states they seem totally lost.

Sky News state they have a following of 2.6% of Australians according to their figures.
They brag they are engaging with under 30s with 30% visiting the site once a month. This is true. They all pass on memes and laugh at them on links.

They have lost all credibility with the public and I now think it is becoming clear Liberals don't want to be seen talking to their staff.

This I believe is the reason they could only get Kroger and Tim Smith during the election coverage, both of whom have been kicked forcibly out of their Liberal party positions in disgrace.

I loved reading that post :)

One also thinks that K. Ruddy is liking the Karma as well. lol

Nsw election will be interesting to watch. Libs don't have the youth vote. But Labor is still the corrupt little bunch it always was imo.
After watching other states disintegrate, I hope we don't get that rot here.

Now would be a good time for Kristina Marie Kerscher Keneally to stay in the cargo hold for 6 months :)

What I'm looking forward to is the plan of attack that the Government takes, to sort out their dependence on coal, from what someone said he is taking about re starting the SECV that IMO would be a great start.
We have been suggesting it on the forum for the past three years, where the Govt's are going to have to take back generator of last resort responsibility again.
At least then the responsibility of sorting out the mess, would be given to people who should have some technical ability, rather than as is happening currently where it is all been driven by politicians, journo's and activists.
Let's see if it eventuates, going by past performance, Andrews doesn't like to hand over anything that involves headlines, or control.
Let's see if he was dinkum, or just electioneering. :2twocents

AS a Victorian , I was not really surprised at the result so far.
My biggest disappointment was the small vote of the Liberal Democrats (or whatever they call themselves from here on in), as they come closest to the small l liberal i count myself as.
One of the surprising things was the almost complete failure of the independents.
They started with three seats, and the best scenario is they end up with one, but looking more and more likely to get zero.
In my own electorate of Shepparton, the nationals retook the seat from a two term Independant.
The teal revolution that occurred at a national level, was just not replicated here in Vic.
The big winners have seem the national party, going from six to nine seats, with the potential to end up with ten when the Narracan election finally gets happening after the suicide of the sitting member the week before the election.
The call to separate from the Lib coalition will become stronger when they start to look at the seat by seat distribution, especially with the lib decision to preference the greens ahead of the labour party.
From this snapshot below

One can see how the stupidity of the way preferences distort things.
The greens wereblauded as the big winners, but with only a 0.2% swing towards them, will at bet get 5 seats, maybe only four.
The Nationals, with a 0.6% swing towards them, will gain 3 and possibly 4.
The group of "others", gained more votes than the nats and the greens put together, but ended up -2 seats, or at best maybe - 1.
The result was hailed as a triumph for D Andrews, but so far the Labour party with a 5.8% swing against them, has a net loss of only 1 seat.
Once all the counting is done, and the declarations of the polls take place, it will be interesting to revisit some of these
figures.

Straight from Sky after Dark....
i notice the between the likes and the post you are all "Guardian" readers.

Probably best not to cast stones with your lots track record.

That's right. The dividing line is now news outlet.

Pretty much the same with Sky News viewers.

Herald Sun did a great job in Victoria didn't it ?

I read and watch across the political divide media wise including Murdoch which varies.

The terms, words and phrase's you use (among others here) shows clearly you don't, no big deal but will lead to lack of understanding on how the world really works.

As for corruption in NSW it never stopped from the Rum Corps.

The Conservative thought Leaders of the likes of Nick Cater, Menzies Research Centre, who's piece in the Sunday Australian 13/11 "Single young females the biggest threat to parties on the right"...
Get hold of this Please. And read it....

The problem for the Liberal party's near term prospects ain't the Guardian....As proven in Vic, 80% of under 30's see better alternatives to the Lberals
The problem is giving colunm inches to thinking like Cater, anywhere.

Don't misinturpret this as that Cater shouldn't be printed; The more he is the better I like it.
