NSW Election 2023

.

Anyone got any recommendations who we should vote for ? Asking for a friend :)
Yeah it's one of those elections. Libs are coming out with some stupid ideas but I don't like the idea of the "pork payout" that Labor will have to pay to the usual suspects with our money.

NSW currently isn't too bad and I don't want Labor taxing everything that moves. I also don't want "Dan Andrews lite". The public service doesn't work hard enough to justify a pay rise either.

Straight vote libs this one. Hopefully the scum in positions of power retires or dies by next election.

Picture this... NSW Labor gets in and is so bad they take down the Albo govt as well.

So in order to save the fed ALP I have to vote Libs. :speechless:

More likely they retain power for 20 years with dodgy election tactics and a bunch of brain dead voters.
There's a lot of stupid people that buy in to virtue signalling policies that don't actually do anything.

In saying that, there are lots of libs that need a clean out.

I'm ok with fed Labor for now as fed libs are ridiculously bad.
I had to move to another state last time Labor was in state nsw. They were shocking.

Quite possibly, and hoping that the Liberal scandals will get them over the line.
Sounds like a plan, I guess a lot depends on how the general sentiment is in NSW, will a change be better or are things not that bad at the moment.
It doesnt sound like the media have been overly hard on the Premier, they haven't been 24/7 on his case, so the small target might not work as well as it did for Albo.
The NSW election might actually be more a reflection of how the Feds are performing, if people are happy, they tend to go " well that worked ok".

Locally, the feeling is that we did a lot better than most states through Covid.

Mainly, we were locked down in localised areas and unlocked fairly quickly unlike other states.

Liberals still have a lot of street cred for letting people go to work as much as possible throughout the pandemic

Did the "Rum Corps" ever end in NSW?

Seems to affect both sides of politics in NSW.

What's holding up the release of the Berejiklian report by the NSW ICAC ?

Release of ICAC report on Daryl Maguire, Gladys Berejiklian delayed

Begins with:
The NSW corruption watchdog says it is unlikely to release the findings of its investigation into former premier Gladys Berejiklian and her secret boyfriend before the March election.

Ends with:
In a statement at the time, the Commission said it was "conscious of it's obligations ... to furnish investigation reports as soon as possible" after it finished.

It also gave some parties an extension of time in which to make their submissions.

Also seem to remember reading/hearing that the report would not be released until after the election as it most likely, overly bias the voters. Anyway, we're told to expect it to be released in the 2nd QTR this year.

Yup, whatever the finding reports, either way, good or bad, in this case timing it seems is everything...

Interesting the independents aren't keen on pokies reform.

Ex Shooters Fishers party. I reckon they need the local funding and support for the election.
I am sure that they would not want to be on the wrong side with the wealthy country clubs.

They will get judged on this. This is why transparency is so important in a democracy.
Really?

Perhaps only 10 to 20% of the political positions of any party has any level of transparency.

And don't forget that I was an member of a political think tank when in the UK, I got to see the inner workings, the purulent level of decision-making regarding policy.

The folks know f***all about what goes on inside parties at that level.
