Good morning everyone and welcome to the May 2020 stock tipping competition! :)

This month's competition is proudly sponsored by FP Markets.

FP Markets is an Australian owned and ASIC regulated broker with over 12 years experience and 35 industry awards including Highest Overall Client Satisfaction 5 years running. They facilitate trading in equities, indices, commodities, futures, Forex and Bitcoin via their MetaTrader4 platform.

FP Markets offer 10,000+ equities, indices and commodities across all major international markets. All equity CFDs are DMA priced and 100% hedged. FP Markets are not a market maker so their interests are aligned with that of their clients. You can go long on everything listed on the ASX and international markets and they have the widest short offering of any Australian broker.

This month there were a number of entrants who forgot to post in the thread of their stock tip in accordance with the competition rules: @Lead3r, @Traderjosephine, @Betavegeta and @Bazzi. I will give those entrants who have not yet posted in the thread of their competition entry another 48 hours to do so. If they choose to do so then I will add them to the May competition.

Please note that you cannot rely on a post from a previous month. The post must be made in the month that you enter the competition.

Could all qualifying entrants please check their entry and entry price and report any errors to me in this thread.

Keep track of the results here: ASF Stock Competition Leaderboard

Feel free to discuss the competition in this thread as the month progresses.

The visual journey of all entries so far for May's Competition.

Looking at the charts there was a couple of good moves up during the week. @finicky jumped 45% on Thursday :xyxthumbs (I really hope this complies with rule 2), @So_Cynical up over 30% for the week :xyxthumbs, great tussle for 3rd spot at the moment between @aus_trader, @noirua, @explod and @jonnycage and even @tech/a had a nice rise of over 13% on Friday to get into the black.

Blast your eyes! I resile from the May comp

2. Stocks with a price of less than $0.01 are ineligible for the competition, as are stocks that are currently suspended from trading.

Sorry to have mentioned it @finicky, I was hoping I had it wrong because it was a nice bit of research by you. I hope you had a few $$s on it.

Thanks @frugal.rock you must be a lawyer, ha. Very sporting.
I believe I come under the intent of the rule so my withdrawal from the May comp is final.

That's quite ok @debtfree, I believe you're right.

In case anyone thinks I was being sneaky, I had no idea a takeover was afoot and it wasn't alluded to in the first trading halt announcement.

@finicky
There's no disambiguation to the competition rules?
3.1 What is a trading halt?
A ‘trading halt’ is defined in Listing Rule 19.12 as:
an interruption to trading at the request of an entity that is not a suspension from quotation.
ARS wasn't suspended from trading. Trading was still able to occur off market.
A takeover offer is exactly that, an offer. It's not a done deal. It may not eventuate.
As long as the stock isn't " Currently suspended from trading" there's no issue.
There's no need to 'fall on your sword?
@Joe Blow ?

I actually blame myself. Each competition is set up manually, which means I am supposed to check that all the rules have been complied with by all entrants. As you can imagine, this is a time consuming job and I do not look forward to the end of the month. It is always done in the morning, and I may or may not have enough caffeine in me at the time, depending on the circumstances. This may affect my ability to complete this job to a satisfactory level.

Obviously, last month I didn't check well enough. So @finicky doesn't have to exclude him or herself if he or she doesn't want to, as it was technically my fault. Anyway, it's only a material concern if at the end of the month finicky finishes in first, second or third place.

"Disambiguation" eh, a new word for me.
As Joe says, it might become a non issue anyway, but I am out of this one.

:xyxthumbs
Maybe some terminology misunderstanding on my part then.
The judges decision is final.
Precedent set.

ADJ now back where it started the month. Looks promising. You'll hear the boom when it happens.

Advance notice for @Joe Blow .

Well, my pick was trading normally when the comp was entered into, but now gone into "voluntary suspension" pending some lab test results... Hope it comes out before the month's end...

finicky, I don't think anyone believes you were being sneaky in any way. These announcements are hard to keep track of. I only realised "SKN" was in a trading halt / voluntary suspension when the price stayed frozen for two days on the chart !
