Good morning everyone and welcome to the June 2020 stock tipping competition! :)

This month's competition is proudly sponsored by FP Markets.

FP Markets is an Australian owned and ASIC regulated broker with over 12 years experience and 35 industry awards including Highest Overall Client Satisfaction 5 years running. They facilitate trading in equities, indices, commodities, futures, Forex and Bitcoin via their MetaTrader4 platform.

FP Markets offer 10,000+ equities, indices and commodities across all major international markets. All equity CFDs are DMA priced and 100% hedged. FP Markets are not a market maker so their interests are aligned with that of their clients. You can go long on everything listed on the ASX and international markets and they have the widest short offering of any Australian broker.

This month there were three entrants who forgot to post in the thread of their stock tip in accordance with the competition rules: @explod, @Jamos96 and @brerwallabi. I will give those entrants another 48 hours to post in the thread of their competition entry. If they choose to do so I will add them to the June competition.

Could all qualifying entrants please check their entry and entry price and report any errors to me in this thread.

Keep track of the results here: ASF Stock Competition Leaderboard

Feel free to discuss the competition in this thread as the month progresses.

On that Joe, I have the same trouble sometimes. A stock thread can be on the 2nd or 3rd search results pages, if I don't toggle on the thread name filter.

Further, I request a bar steward's inquiry into ID8 and @So_Cynical !

When searching for a stock thread, always check the box that says, "Search titles only" and enter either the ASX code or the company name inside quotes (e.g. "BHP Group").

This will solve that problem.

Further, I request a bar steward's inquiry into ID8 and @So_Cynical !

I will arrange to have the nag examined to see if it has been doped or otherwise interfered with.

@frugal.rock yes I find this frustrating as well. We are trying to increase posts in the individual stock thread and they should be promoted to top of the search.

Search BHP in the title and you will find the stock thread on page 3......

EDIT - just seen Joe's response, but searching for BHP should be just the stock code

My search results when doing a title only search for "BHP Group".

@Joe Blow I get that but if you put in BHP which is what 99% of people would search for you get 3 pages of BHP's in the title.

Maybe if we had a auto fill so when you type BHP the group pops up.

To be fair, if you do a title only search for 95% of ASX codes you will get one or two results back at most. There are a few stocks, of which BHP is one, where there is a lot of discussion in a number of threads where the ASX code is in the thread title.

In a case like that do a title search for the company name in quotes (e.g. "BHP Group") and you'll get one result.

I use the search all the time and don't have any issues with it. Like any search engine, you have to fine tune your searches to get the results you want. With more than a million posts and 25,000 threads it makes sense that if you're searching for the BHP thread you'll have to use a search query that will isolate only that thread. A title only search for "BHP Group" is that query.

I don't want to appear to be dismissive of people's concerns, just trying to point out that the search is very powerful when used correctly.

If you want to get even more specific use the Advanced Search where you can even search for words or phrases posted by specific users and sort results by relevance or date.

Maybe if we had a auto fill so when you type BHP the group pops up.

I'll check into this and see how feasible it is.

Near the end of each month Joe will start a new thread for the next months tipping comp. We've got until the EOM to post our selection in that thread and then post a few comments about your selection in the stock specific thread. If your selection complies with the monthly comp rules, Joe will enter it into the monthly comp list and we watch to see who gets lucky (and unlucky).

They only hold inquiries after the race has finished, 5 days in and i have little chance of finishing on top.
noticed you posted at 3.40pm Friday. within 30 minutes, the prophecy came true!! (in the short run)
