Good morning everyone and welcome to the January 2019 stock tipping competition! :)

This month's competition is proudly sponsored by FP Markets.

FP Markets is an Australian owned and ASIC regulated broker with over 12 years experience and 35 industry awards including Highest Overall Client Satisfaction 5 years running. They facilitate trading in equities, indices, commodities, futures, Forex and Bitcoin via their MetaTrader4 platform.

FP Markets offer 10,000+ equities, indices and commodities across all major international markets. All equity CFDs are DMA priced and 100% hedged. FP Markets are not a market maker so their interests are aligned with that of their clients. You can go long on everything listed on the ASX and international markets and they have the widest short offering of any Australian broker.

This month there were five entrants who forgot to post in the thread of their stock tip in accordance with the competition rules: @$20shoes, @aus_trader, @basilio, @peter2, and @So_Cynical. December is always a chaotic month with school holidays, Christmas and new year, so I will give those five entrants another 24 hours to post in the thread of their competition entry. Should they do so, I will then add them to the January competition. :)

Could all qualifying entrants please check their entries and entry price and report any errors to me in this thread.

Keep track of the results here: ASF Stock Competition Leaderboard

Feel free to discuss the competition in this thread as the month progresses.

Thanks Joe. Have just posted my views on my thread for Jan choice.

Hi Joe, I have also posted in the Silver Chef Ltd (SIV) thread, which was the company chosen for Jan competition.

@Joe Blow any objections to me putting a couple of comments in for @peter2 in the PET thread? I know he is having internet connection issues and is waiting for Tech support to fix it for days now.

Ah, that would explain it. I didn't realise Peter was having internet connection issues. I've gone ahead and added him to the January competition. I'm sure he'll comment in the PET thread when he gets back online.

I have absolutely no objection to you adding your thoughts to the PET thread as well. :)

Thank you for considering my recent "handicap". I've been reading lots of books, watching tennis and cricket and even did some gardening. Unfortunately the gardening injured my lower back preventing me from playing tennis.

I'm not complaining. I hope 2019 will be a good year to all.

@Joe Blow My tip seems to be unloved by the data collection agency.

However I'm a happy holder of OOO at 10% as of today :)

omg! I'm in the lead! I can hear Sdajii cursing and swearing from here (I took his pick). We're 10 days in, maybe we should just call it for this month and distribute the prizes

Actually, I think it'll go over +50% this month (SEA), just hope it holds it come Jan 31.

Congratulations to Parse, explod and PZ99 for taking out the top three places in the January 2019 stock tipping competition! :xyxthumbs

Parse finished in first place with an enviable 33.33% return with SEA! In second place was explod who achieved an impressive 27.78% return with MOY. Rounding out the top three for January was PZ99 with OOO, which returned a solid 18%.

Can Parse, explod and PZ99 please contact me via PM regarding their prizes.

Best of luck to all in the February competition! :)

Here are the final results for January:

Congratulations, Parse! As you know, I was pretty sure you were going to win right from the moment I realised you had beaten me to my choice! ;) Nice day to finish on too! (not complaining, but I wish it had come tomorrow ;) ).

It was actually pretty close. I don't check the table often but I had a look on the second last day and I was in second. It was only SEA's fairly big push on the last day that got me there. Oddly enough SEA also had a big push (31c to 36c) on Dec 31st as well.

Thanks to Joe and the sponsors as well!
