I hope you're right, Horace. I'm pessimistic about it though. Not necessarily.
Iran may just have found it necessary to respond to the attack on its Syrian embassy without wanting a prolonged war.
Israel may just have found it necessary to take out the Iranian generals that were complicit in the 07 Oct rampage when 1200, mainly civilians, mainly Jewish, were murdered and > 200 taken hostage by Hamas. Not necessarily.

Yeah well, action and reaction, opposite but not equal. 1200 israelis 30,000 Palestians dead. Don't tell me anyone is "right" in this war.Israel may just have found it necessary to take out the Iranian generals that were complicit in the 07 Oct rampage when 1200, mainly civilians, mainly Jewish, were murdered and > 200 taken hostage by Hamas.
Yes that is the problem with these issues, there is always an over reaction to frighten the crap out of the opposition, to hopefully make them think twice before trying the same thing againYeah well, action and reaction, opposite but not equal. 1200 israelis 30,000 Palestians dead. Whether it works or not is debatable, but as always it is the general public who suffer the most.
Look what happened when the twin towers were taken down and 4,000 died, for several years there was a lot of pain and suffering due to the reaction, I don't know how many died in the retaliation but it would have been a hell of a lot more than 4,000
Humans don't seem to learn much from history.
Yes I guess we will just have to see whether everyone else wants to buy in, I know whatever I think won't matter at all.Netanyahu bombed an embassy trying to start WWIII?
USA don't want to join in. can't blame them. These wars never go the way planned. All the way? Total war.
They want to make sure the USA joins in.
Sanctions have been there since 2012. Obama bought them in.Interesting to note that Trump had oil sanctions on Iran and I don't think Biden has.
Saudis are battling it out to become a middle East leader. Israel seems to have been put on a leash for any retaliation to the Iran strikes and Iran has thrown their multimillion dollar hissy fit at Israel.
Iran basically telegraphed their strike on purpose so the Israelis had plenty of time to seek cover. I think it was roughly 2 hours of warning time.
What is more interesting is that both Jordan and Saudi participated in the defence, along with UK US etc.Interesting to note that Trump had oil sanctions on Iran and I don't think Biden has.

I think they were essentially forced into it. Their proxies are dying for them and if Iran didn't act they would lose face.Looks more like an opportunity for Intelligence gathering on defenses and how strong alliances are and then play the story at home how they taught Israel a lesson.
There's been a bit of a cold war between Iran and Saudi for a while. What is more interesting is that both Jordan and Saudi participated in the defence, along with UK US etc.
A message in that?
What is obvious is that it seems there are greater strategic considerations now in play. This *may be a good thing, although I am deeply distrustful of the greater ideological considerations behind those (personal opinion).
There is probably more going on behind the scenes than we'll ever be allowed to know.
"Israel says 99% of the drones and missiles launched by Tehran were intercepted, but the alert level remains high."
Quality work by Iran... Have to wonder if it was just a ploy to look 'hard' to their fellow extremists but deep down they were scared Israel might respond. A pretty unsuccessful attack unless it was to use up old bombs?
