with Iranian drones on course to Israel, 13-14 April 2024, please work out who the aggressor is.

Shahed drones are relatively slow. It will take hours for them to reach Israel, but it is very possible that the objective of that swarm is to oversaturate the Israeli air defense so that ballistic and cruise missiles might get through. These are the same tactics Russia is using against Ukraine.
 
Pretty dumb for Iran to get involved directly - did the Ayatollah's son or similar get killed in the embassy? With everyone on high alert and the USA fleet off the coast it is a good opportunity for the USA to hit the drone factories and any other military infrastructure that they are aware of.

Biden and Obama sent a whole lot of cash to Iran.
It's comical that just before elections we now get a potential ww3 scenario. China and Russia will be looking on with interest.


Good time to stock up on the basics:
Food
Petrol
Household items.

At this point it's just a precaution to beat any rush to the shops and a possible inflation hit.
 
Israel bombed an embassy, there was always going to be a response. Israel has been bombing Gaza and surrounding nations for how long now. The goal was always Iran. While I'd like to see Iran's government get disintegrated, going to war isn't the right option.

Just how far is Israel willing to go?
I know the US troops had a problem with defending and dying for Israel. US would have to pull in some major favours from allies to back any war.

Australia gets a lot of Iranian students. Very clever very nice people from the ones I've met.

Australia is distracted with the knife attacks.
Like I said it's just precautionary at this stage. There might not be a mass escalation in the war if cooler heads prevail.
But the facts are:

Iran has been a target for years.

It's an election year and generally wars make people keep the current governments.

Shipping has been hampered.

Iran has been supplying the Russians in the Russian/Ukraine war.

Iran has been gaining strength and allies in the middle East and is becoming a powerhouse.

For Israel, it is existential, for the Islamist world, it is about wiping Israel off the map and killing all Jews. That is their religion and raison d'etre. It is part of their daily prayers.

That may give you a small clue.

Why I said they need to make sure USA joins in if total war is declared is that Iran is a powerful country and without the USA the war will be difficult to say the least.

I don't think it's the smartest thing to do, probably a good chance to do something though. Personally I would love to see the drone manufacturer factories get smashed.

Not necessarily.

Iran may just have found it necessary to respond to the attack on its Syrian embassy without wanting a prolonged war.
