Interactive Brokers Troubleshooting

Hi;
I have just opened an account with IB and are trying to get used to the interface etc.

I have noticed that in Order Management, some rows have a yellow background color (e.g. DAX or TF), while other just have the default background color e.g (SPI, ES), I am just wondering if anyone knows the reason for it?

Thanks
Thomas

Download "TWS Guide" & on page 415 "Understanding System Colors" will help.

Hi;
I have some challenges with the API. I am using Market Analyst as my charting software, and I finally managed to get the live datafeed happening (at least for some symbols).

One challenge I have is that I need to add the symbols manually to the software before I can use it. Meaning I need to know the Exchange and the Symbol used. To make this easier I thought of displaying the Symbol column under Order Management, but I found that in some instances the symbol displayed and the symbol that I need to specify in MA don't match. For example the E-mini ESH0 is the same in IB and MA, but the SPI is APH0 in IB and AP10H in MA.

Now I am looking for the DAX Future code, which is FDAX MAR 10 in IB, and I just can't find the code that I need to use in MA.

Does anyone know of a table where I can look this up in TWS? I tried Contract Info, but that just gives me the FDAX MAR 10 which does not seem to work.

I am :banghead: the whole day.

DAX Futures trading via IB

Hi;
I am trying to get my charting software (Market Analyst) to retrieve live quotes for the current DAX Future contract. I have tried to enter following codes:

FDAXH0
FDAX10H
FDAX MAR 10 (this one is actually used in the IB Order Management Page)

None of them retrieves anything.

Does anyone know the correct code (apparently the Local Name) to use. I have other live feeds working, e.g SPI and e-mini.

Thanks
Thomas

If its anything like AmiBroker it will be something like FDAXH0-DTB-FUT-EUR-TRADE-NOW-IS-THIS-ENOUGH-JUST-LET-ME-SEE-THE-CHART.

No, but really its like FDAXH0-DTB-FUT-EUR. not sure about that first part, but you have to type the exchange and type of instrument and the currency if its outside US.

Thanks Sam, I guess it is the first part that's missing, the software actually has a drop down for the exchange, currency and instrument, so I assume (always bad to assume) that they add this information automatically.

Try DAX.
Cos' to get FDAX MAR 10 on IB you have to type in DAX.

I don't use Market Analyst..........................................

After many tries and thanks to the input here I found the one that works is DAXH0.

Why can't they all use the same code????????

Thanks for any input, helped me to find the code in the end.

Anyone with NT ever had this problem before? Feb worked fine, April loads fine, but March doesn't seem to want to, I can get the DOM to come up fine, just actual charts don't load. :banghead:

After getting the DAX Future to load, I have discovered differences between the EOD and live data feed from IB.

When I check my 3 minute chart for the 3rd of March, I have a high of 5830 and a low of 5750.5. Looking at the same symbol but at the daily chart, for 3rd March, I have a high of 5782.5 and low of 5711.

Is this normal having such differences?

Looking at todays bar, they seem to match (note yesterday's data for both live feed and EOD is history coming from IB).

Thanks
Thomas

Thomas,

Try doing "Backfill" data again & see whether that works............

I'm sure there is a "Backfill" button or from your drop down menu.

That's all I can suggest.

Thanks for the suggestion, tried it already, does not make any difference. I have noticed the same with the E-mini. Could this have something to do with the expiry date of the contract and for some reason, when getting the history for the EOD one, it uses a different code?

Has anyone else experienced a similiar issue?

Seem to have lost some of my order types somehow, specifically the market on close.

Can't seem to get it into the drop down on my orders. :confused:

Similar thing happpened to me. i.e. losing order types. I had bracket orders that I had transmitted. These bracket orders were (from memory) MKT and I needed to change them to Stp and LMT. When I viewed the orded type in the drop down, there was only one or two other options.

Try cancelling the order and re doing it.

Nah, I can't get them into the order bar at all.

Even after I've checked them and pressed apply in the configure and various other set up places.

Chops; IB help desk should be able to help you. Let us know what the solution is.

Sorry to hijack, but another question; I can't login to TWS today (Sat 2:30pm Syd time). Is TWS unavailable on weekends? After entering user/pass TWS tries and tries to log in, bu with no luck. It doesn't even ask me for the code of the card.

TWS is certainly available on weekends.

You're trying to log on over the friday night reset, suggest going down the street for a latte` then trying again later (say an hour).

The server must be a 386 with 4mb of ram trying to run win98! Taking longer than an hour to reboot! :)

On another IB question;

Can anyone share some practical examples of how long it has taken to transfer share holdings from another Chess sponsor (RBS Morgan FKA ABNAmro Morgans) to IB?

I've got some Share's tht have been sitting around for a while and I think the money would be better used elsewhere; Either as collateral for IB margin, or selling via IB and using the cash.

Or is there an easier way to cheaply sell these stocks even though there sponsored into Chess by another sponsor? On principle, I don't want to pay big $ to these muppets to put a sell order on for me.
