Interactive Brokers Troubleshooting

..............

Anyone know of any IB webinars etc off the top of there head that explains this process? I'm sure it will be pretty straight forward once I start doing it.

Webinar 'Mechanics of an overseas trade' at 0300 21 May AEST. Its usually an hour with a short question time after. It demonstrates both methods - ie 'deposit' in Australia (interest paid) and 'borrow' in USA (interest charged)or buy US$ and maintain a balance in both currencies.

thanks titl...

I'll have to scan the site and see if there's any pre-recorded ones so I don't have to wait.

Which methods do the lovely people of ASF recommend?

I have bought UK stock and IB has an a/c for me in Pounds as well as the AUD

I just deposited from a UK a/c into their UK a/c so I do not have exchange rate problems unless I bring funds over.

IB If done Conditional Orders

I am wondering if any one knows how to do the following with Interactive Brokers TWS.

Basically I set up a conditional order to buy on highs. When that order is filled I want to be able to set a stop loss order that activates automatically once the first one is filled. I guess this would be called an "If done Order". I have searched through the threads here and on the IB website and haven't been able to find anything so any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

IB question re. SPI futures being held overnight.

If you hold a SPI futures contract overnight with a stop, do you need to tick a "Fill outside regular trading hours" check box somewhere in TWS?

Would help one sleep better at night knowing that any nasty moves, the stop will definitely 100% be triggered.

Anyone able to shed any light on this?

As far as I can tell;
Configure > Global Configuration > Presets > Futures then tick;
"Allow order to be activated, triggered or filled outside of regular trading hours"
and make sure you do this for DAY and GTC order types in the drop down.

Is this required if you wish for your SPI trade STOP to be triggered during the night session?

Is there anything else I need to check to ensure stops will be activated and traded in the night session?

Anyone having trouble loading symbols from IB into Amibroker this morning?

All coming up invalid but it was all working yesterday:confused:

Hi guys,

Of late, I've found that my stops on IDEALFX aren't getting executed as soon as they are hit like before, and sometimes it can take up to 10 seconds to go through :banghead:

Anyone experienced anything similar? This has occured during all trading conditions, eg Tokyo session or US news release.

Cheers.

In the last couple of weeks, yellow triangles have started appearing on my charts in IB. Can't seem to find a pattern of what is making them appear. They point to bars and appear on most charts, from stocks, to indices to futures.

Weird.

They are news points, when I hover over them I get a box top left showing me the reuters/aap/yahoo article that mentions the stock at that time

Ahhhh of course! I did sign up for news from IB. Might get tid of it, don't think it's worth it for my trading style. I'll do it now before I forget and get slugged a fee if I don't trade enough.

On another note, most of my news from IB is all in gobbly gook characters! Anyone else experienced this?

Hi all I use TOS TM and OpEx on the US markets and am looking for a similar platform to trade the ASX. My AU broker recommends IB and on looking through the threads I see many that use IB, so any tips or recos from anyone I'd appreciate, I trade options.
Cheers

I use the free data and live info from commsec/quotetracker etc. - have multi screens.

Both platforms on IB ok for option buy/sells but you have to use the more sophisticated [reads complicated] TWS trader for rolling - calender spreads combo's etc. they did work for me but I needed a lesson.

My annual report from IB just went thru my accountant - no problems much better than any before but There are small offshore taxes and witholding tax I am not sure if I get back.

Hi. I've been having trouble attaching trailing stop order. I get this warning:

Untitled1.gif

I've tried changing every setting under the sun but to no avail. I have modified my presets to 0 or to 10 000 000 and still no good.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

PS: This is a paper trading account only.

guys with latest download, any idea how to turn off the auto armed on the ladder in Book Trader?

cheers

I've unsubscribed from the news, but I still get the yellow triangles on my charts! pain in the backside! Not such a problem for individual stocks, but for the XJO, it's full of yellow triangles!

Anyway to clear these off?

Just started trading ASX shares with IB - can anyone tell me how good they are with capital raising situations, i.e. does it take longer to get the shares than it would with Etrade or Comsec?

Anyone else having trouble trying to withdraw cash from IB today? The 'Method' box comes up empty and I can't proceed. I notified them hours ago but still no reply.

Hi;
I am noticing more and more that my stop orders aren't executed at the elected price. Here is an example:
I went long in the USDCHF today with a stop of .9856. I was watching the price in TWS and saw it that it hit (Sell Price) .9855 several times over a period of at least 10 minutes. There was no execution though.

While I understand there always must be a buyer at the other end in order for the order to be executed and you might get slippage I find this strange that this happens quite frequently (specially with stop orders).

Just wondering if IB actually uses the Buy (which hadn't reached .9856) to execute the order?

Has anyone else experienced this as well?

Thomas

did it tick under that price?? I am pretty sure it has to tick under that price to activate the stop order.

cheers
