Interactive Brokers Troubleshooting

Thanks for the answer mate. I currently use ETRADE at $45 per trade, this is incredible, i will end up saving 95% for my average trade!

So i am guessing most day traders wouldn't touch etrade or commsec etc? Even Bell direct at $30 doesn't stand a chance.

To add a bit of insult, at least two ( could be more haven't checked ) of the big Australian brokers then charge commission as a percentage of trade value once you hit a fixed threshold.

Hi, is anyone else having problems with erroneous/corrupt chart info on SPI APR 15 futures contracts recently? SPI index data valid but futures chart just shows yellow dash lines in lieu of candlesticks and not updating at all in all selected time-frames.Tried contacting IB help but both 'livechat' and 'message' centre 'down for maintenance'. No urgency as no active trades on but curious if anyone else is experiencing problems with TWS chart info on this contract? Tks.

No problems at my end !

Has it got something to do with the lack of volume on that month ? Try June's chart.

Thanks for your suggestion Cutz. The June contract appears to be displaying valid info but I am def not receiving valid info on the Apr contract as the bid/ask isn't unusually illiquid enough to justify the corrupt data in my opinion. Under my 'quote panel' the last price is stuck on 5965 whilst the bid is reflecting 5985 and the ask 5993 with an 8 point spread? I frequently see 2 point spreads in the front month on the SPI but I've never seen 8 points at this time of day? When the bid & ask prices change the last price remains as 5965 with yellow dash lines and no candlesticks on the chart despite these being selected under 'chart parameters'. I'm no expert however, so I've taken a screen shot and sent it to IB for troubleshooting? Have also had gremlin problems with contacting the IB online chat helpline too so something must be adrift at my end I think?

Thanks for your response though; appreciate the assistance.

Tks.

Hi again.

I'm no expert on SPI contracts but to me the Apr candle chart reads correct, the 12.42pm yellow bar is a dash because one contract was traded at 5965, no other trades in that minute therefore the price bar can only represent the open/high/low/close of 5965, hence the dash. All the other grey dashes after 1242pm represent nil trades, each dash represents 1 min on the minute candle setting.

As a relative novice to the world of futures I have just been informed by IB that whilst there are futures contracts available for APR & MAY they told me to ignore them and just look at quarterly futures contracts only. I appreciate the SPI is not the most liquid of all at the best of times but this one threw me for a while. All resolved and you were quite correct in your analysis above, so thanks very much Cutz. Cheers

Hey

Anyone else having issues accessing stand alone TWS currently with windows 7?

I have contacted support and they are saying they are aware of an issue regarding a java or windows update causing issues.

Thanks

G'day Michael,

I haven't had any issues with TWS in Windows 7 but there were a few messages on the TWS API Yahoo mailing list about update #KB 3046049 in windows update causing issues with security changes. I haven't had a problem so didn't investigate further but it might give you a starting point to track down a solution.

Yeah turns out there was an issue with a windows update for some and it wasn't letting customers login through the desktop icons.

There is a fix attached here if you need to use a version of TWS prior to the most recent and are having trouble -

Thanks for posting the fix Mike. Thankfully I haven't had any issues this time with the Windows update but quite often the Java updates break either TWS or do strange things to the target link in Zeroline Trader.

Anyone know how to get ASX announcements on IB? I've subscribed for ASX data but cannot get announcements.

I,m new to IB, and just running into some problem lately. I've called the HK of but they clear to me dont seem to know what they are doing.
Problem is, i signed up for the ASX market data but do not receive pre market data.....could this be normal.

Yes they are good on some things but on others they are poor - why they dont have an office here I dont know. Emails are mostly ignored but the ticket system works.

Also, are you able to use the filter in the market scanner for the market capitalisation?

Cannot get message ticket system lately - do you now login to the australia site or old hong kong one please?

Also you cannot buy more than 2 million of any stock and you cannot bid 0.0045 when spread is 4-5!

Anyone know a broker that lets you do that?
