Anxiety is at absurd levels. Seems to have hit millennials pretty hard as well.
They should have had the benefit of maturity.

Nope, there was an egg fight on the school bus, so when the driver got us to school, he dobbed them in to Billy Goat, well the culprits were lined up and got six, then had to go to the back of the line, three sets were dished out.
Then they spent the rest of the day cleaning up the bus, needless to say that never happened again.?
Mates and I in Grade 8 had the idea of putting the (nasty piece of work) high school's head teacher's Datto 1000 up on bricks.
Unrelated, but I broke me arm skateboarding and when I went back to school, found out the lads had done the job without me.
They had sore bums from the canings, but were still laughing about it.
You can buy and read books on your phone using the kindle app, you know.Na did a lot more back in the day. Reading a paper didn't take that long.
My kids can track their phone time and it takes up hours. I'm not convinced that reading a phone is absorbed much at all, compared to reading a book you actively bought.
That phone time also knocked out skills learned. I was constantly learning stuff when I was younger. That I notice the younger generation is not doing these days.
Boredom use to mean going out and finding something to do. Now it means switching on your phone.
God even dating has been reduced to swiping on your phone.
Not having a go at the younger generation. Just that big corporations really did a number on them.
Yes, Millenials on average received less physical punishment than prior generations, but have also become the generation that commits the least crime, especially the least violent crime.I was in high school in the late 60's early 70's, the 'cuts', some people were excellent at giving them, poetry in motion and you couldn't hold a pen for the rest of the day.
I remember one such person the deputy headmaster at Eastern Goldfields Highschool, we nicknamed him Billy Goat, because it rhymed with his name, if there had been an olympic sport for rhythmic cane wielding he would have been right up there in the medal chase.
The good old days.
Yes I wonder if that is due to lack of punishment, or the fact they grew up in a time of plenty and living as children of much more affluent parents.Yes, Millenials on average received less physical punishment than prior generations, but have also become the generation that commits the least crime, especially the least violent crime.
Google it, stats from all over the world show the Millenials are less likely to commit crimes and are less violent, so all the talk of us being a disrespectful unruly generation haven’t translated to higher crime rates.

I know in my case, I tried as best as I could, to ensure they didn't have the impoverished childhood I had, but having said that they certainly don't appreciate the value of money as much as myself and my wife do.
Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing. time will tell.
Suffice to say I see no need for physical punishment. It doesn't bring respect, only compliance which definitely is not the same.Yes, Millenials on average received less physical punishment than prior generations, but have also become the generation that commits the least crime, especially the least violent crime.
A bit surprise coming from you:Suffice to say I see no need for physical punishment. It doesn't bring respect, only compliance which definitely is not the same.
On the issue of crime though there's another explanation for that. Several studies have shown there's a strong link between early childhood exposure to lead, even at supposedly "safe" levels, and violent crime statistics ~20 years later. That goes for developed countries and undeveloped countries alike and for obvious reasons is especially so in big cities.
How Lead Caused America's Violent Crime Epidemic
In the mid-20th century, America experienced an epidemic of violent crime. The culprit? Lead.www.forbes.com
Capital and corporal punishment are interesting, many say they don't work, but I doubt they actually had any worse outcomes, than the rehabilitation systems we use.I think that for violent crime's & murders we unfortunately see in society (as portrayed on the nightly news) that capital punishment is necessary in such cases. It would certainly act as a deterrent imo
Obviously our legal system would be against it as less money for the courts & lawyer's who milk the current justice system (for their benefit).
I don’t think it’s about “lack of punishment” but just more effective forms of punishment/accountability, some things just have unintended consequences, eg kids that get hit are more likely to hit others, strict parents create sneaky kids etc.Yes I wonder if that is due to lack of punishment, or the fact they grew up in a time of plenty and living as children of much more affluent parents.

I used to think that too, but I am against the death penalty now, it’s just to final and the justice system is too flawed.I think that for violent crime's & murders we unfortunately see in society (as portrayed on the nightly news) that capital punishment is necessary in such cases. I don't disagree, but if you read the newspaper reports from areas of high crime, they currently are getting more regular and more brazen.I don’t think it’s about “lack of punishment” but just more effective forms of punishment/accountability, some things just have unintended consequences, eg kids that get hit are more likely to hit others, strict parents create sneaky kids etc.
It’s always best to start with good parenting, and the ones that do t get that I guess we just have to hope the justice system works.I don't disagree, but if you read the newspaper reports from areas of high crime, they currently are getting more regular and more brazen.
As with North Queensland, the North of W.A is getting out of control, the young are really just pushing the boundaries further and further. How you reverse that, while continuing to apply the same punishment, well it sounds good but it seems to heading down the South African route to me.
The rich live in gated communities, the middle class move further out into select suburbs and the out of control run amok.
We are at the very beginning of the journey but it has definitely started IMO.
