life gets a bit crowded when you all reach for the exit at the same time , success in a thin market might rely on the fastest computer/internet connection

good luck

but i have had my trading platform/computer freeze or slow-down at critical moments in the past i can see i need to lay in front of the curve ( or not at all )

@divs4ever, exiting is never a problem when you only trade in the pre-auction as I do.

The power of the "Average True Range" (ATR)
@Captain_Chaza, a "Take Profit Stop" using the Average True Range (ATR) takes into account the true range of price movements over a given period of time and is beneficial because it allows traders to adjust their exit level in response to changing market conditions. When the price of a position is rising, the ATR will typically increase as well, reflecting the increased volatility in the market. By using the ATR to set the level of the "Take Profit Stop", traders can ensure that their exit level is "adjusted appropriately" to reflect the changing market conditions, providing flexibility in managing their positions and maximising their potential profits.

The question remains
While "Hold on Tight" may be a valid approach "for the time being", it's crucial to have a "well-thought-out plan" for exiting the position at some point. So, my question still stands - "When do you plan to sell the position" using your methodology?"

All you need is a well functioning ATR stop loss to protect your profits/ losses
We don't need any form of ATR to put a limit on all the fun we can have in a Strong Bullish market!

Chaza, I see that you're a brave captain, not one to abandon ship at the first sign of turbulence. That's commendable, but it's also important to know when it's time to cut your losses and move on.

As you've mentioned, your stop loss gains and/or losses haven't been triggered yet. That's good to know, but it's also important to keep in mind that nobody is immune to sea-sickness, not even the most seasoned of sailors. In other words, even the best investments can take a turn for the worse.

Tailing Stop - DYL.jpg

Loyality is not the issue
Arrrr, me hearty! I be ready to weigh anchor and move on, matey. I've been keepin' an eye on the horizon, and I can see the winds be changin'. It will be time to set sail shortly for new waters and find me treasure elsewhere. The sea be a harsh mistress, but she also be full of opportunities for those who be willin' to take risks and chart a new course.

I've got me eye on a few new positions that be lookin' promisin', and I be thinkin' it be time to cast me lines and see if I can catch me some bigger fish. The sea be unpredictable, but that be part of the adventure, don't ye think?

So, hoist the sails and raise yer glass, me hearty! Let's set sail for new horizons and see what the sea has in store for us! Yarrr!

Now in English
Without the sea-faring metaphors. I'm preparing to move on and explore new opportunities once the 'Trailing Stop' or 'Take Profit Stop' is triggered. Looking at the chart, I can see that the situation is changing for the worse. Trading can be unpredictable, but it also offers plenty of opportunities for those who are willing to take risks and try something new.

Good evening Skate
Hoping find you well. Queensland lost 3 outta 3 over the weekend and rcw1 is still in mourning ha ha ha ha ha. Americas Cup 1987 ... what a great Australian achievement. Btw, nice sporting memorabilia you got there too ... is it yours??

The circled candlesticks, represents a bullish pattern, no surprises here, side by side white lines, leading into perhaps a breakaway bear pattern. For mine need another candle tomorrow ... but again no surprises here, gain on offer in many ways.

$0.925 nice pick-up Skate right in the middle of SP gain. The world is your oyster!!

Kind regards
rcw1

@rcw1, yes that poster print hangs proudly in my office as a reminder that Aussies are up to any challenge. Winning the America's Cup was a remarkable achievement for Australia, showcasing our nation's spirit and determination. It's great that I have a special connection to this moment in history through my friend who was a "grinder" on the yacht that challenged for the cup. It's even more special that the crew signed the promotional poster for me, making it a truly unique and personal piece of sporting memorabilia.

Sadly, not all of the signatories are with us today, including the legendary Ben Lexcen, who is famous for designing the winged keel that helped Australia II, skippered by John Bertrand, win the America's Cup. Lexcen's innovative design and Bertrand's strategic approach, including refusing to refer to the all-conquering American team by their names, played a significant role in the historic victory.

Australia's yachtsmen have always had the right spirit, as the old Qantas catchphrase goes, and their achievements continue to inspire and captivate us.

On a side note, did you know that Ben Lexcen was born "Robert Clyde Miller"? It's a fascinating piece of trivia that adds another layer of interest to his remarkable story.

Different Strokes for Different Folks
Just as 6+3 and 5+4 both equal 9, there are often multiple approaches to solving a problem or achieving a solution. Everyone has a unique perspective and way of thinking, which can lead to new ideas.

When others offer feedback or constructive criticism, it's important to recognise the value of their input and consider their perspective. It's not necessary to agree with their point of view or their way of thinking, nor does it mean that you should accept their opinion as your own. You can respect and appreciate their perspective without agreeing with it.

Remember, "different strokes for different folks". What works for one person may not work for another, and that's okay.

Praying is overrated
I can't believe it's already the 4th of October. The month of September was great, and I thought the trading gods were starting to smile upon me as everything seemed to be going my way. To keep the good fortune going, I even reached for my trusty "rosary beads", hoping to further curry favour with the trading gods.

But, as soon as I did, the markets took a turn for the worse. It was as if the trading gods had suddenly turned their backs on me. I'm starting to think that praying is overrated. Despite my best efforts, my trades are plummeting.

I understand the frustration and uncertainty small price movements can have on any portfolio
It's natural to feel emotional when your positions are affected by market fluctuations. However, it's important to remember those emotions keep you on your toes as long as you don't let those emotions cloud your judgement.

Staying up-to-date with market news and analysis can help you understand market trends. t's essential to stay focused and disciplined to have any chance of success in this game. While emotions are a natural part of trading, it's essential to keep them in check.
