Back to the world of Trump ?
Ever wondered exactly what legal defense Trump has ever offered for his refusal to return the reams of offical documents he took from office ?
Check it out. No surprises here.

There is only one Law. Trump Law. Whatever Donald Trump says is The Law. Now and Forever.
Ask him.
Hear him.
Believe him.

The upcoming trials and the 2024 election will turn on a single proposition - do sufficient people in the United States want a President who will do exactly as he wants and believes he can get away with, with no regard for any legal/constitutional barriers ?

Total, unfettered power.
Power to sack people at will.
Power to appoint people at will.
Power to indict people at will.
Power to use his Presidential office for all and any personal use.

It will only take one committed Trump juror at his trials to ensure he is not convicted regardless of the laws he has broken.

It will take millions more people to vote him into office again and authorise Donald Trumps reimaging of the US as Trumpland with no limits.

Funny, for a minute I thought you were talking about Biden.

CIA tried to pay off analysts to bury findings that COVID lab leak was likely: whistleblower

The Central Intelligence Agency offered to pay off analysts in order to bury their findings that COVID-19 most likely leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China, new whistleblower testimony to Congress alleges.

A senior-level CIA officer told House committee leaders that his agency tried to pay off six analysts who found SARS-CoV-2 likely originated in a Wuhan lab if they changed their position and said the virus jumped from animals to humans, according to a letter sent Tuesday to CIA Director William Burns.

Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio) and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner (R-Ohio) requested all documents, communications and pay info from the CIA’s COVID Discovery Team by Sept. 26.

“According to the whistleblower, at the end of its review, six of the seven members of the Team believed the intelligence and science were sufficient to make a low confidence assessment that COVID-19 originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China,” the House panel chairmen wrote.

Trump Basically Just Lost the New York Bank Fraud Case Before It Even Started

Former President Donald Trump, his top executives, and heirs were declared completely liable of “persistent and repeated fraud”—and the real estate empire was unceremoniously stripped of its business licenses in New York—after a judge’s powerful ruling Tuesday ahead of a massive trial that seeks to hit them with more than $250 million in penalties for bank fraud.

And in a stunning development, the judge has already ordered the complete dissolution of the fabled Trump Organization–the tycoon’s pride and joy, the empire that made him famous and elevated him into the White House. The Trump Organization and its sister companies will be sent into receivership to be under the control of a court-appointed officer.

Even before the trial officially starts, the ruling handed New York Attorney General Letitia James a near-total victory, meaning that next week’s trial will mostly focus on damages that could pulverize whatever is left of Trump’s many business entities and bank accounts.

What did the Judge say in his ruling ? Frankly absolutely nothing everyone has been aware of for decades. It's all old news really. Bit like Al Capone being accused of being a gangster.

It's just that a Judge saying making the statements and on this basis stripping Donald Trump of his business licenses represents some actual consequences for ongoing industrial scale business fraud. The trial will still progress but the focus will be on how much damages are awarded against Donald Trump.

In his 35-page opinion, Justice Arthur F. Engoron tore apart what he called the Trump family’s “bogus arguments” and obstreperous conduct. And he summed up the entire defense as “a fantasy world, not the real world.”

“In defendants’ world: rent-regulated apartments are worth the same as unregulated apartments; restricted land is worth the same as unrestricted land, restricts can evaporate into thin air… all illegal acts are untimely if they stem from one untimely act; and square footage [is] subjective,” he wrote.
On Tuesday, Engoron ripped the Trumps—and their lawyers—apart for dragging this on so long with legal arguments that wasted the courts time by repeatedly questioning whether the AG even had the authority to hold them accountable this way.

Those arguments “glaringly misrepresent” the law and trying them again and again “invoke the time-loop in the film Groundhog Day,’” the judge wrote, calling attempts to topple the case this way “pure sophistry.”

Why the upcoming bank fraud trail of Donald trump will not go down well for him . (He has already lost bigly anyway.)
I like this reporter. He really gets his teeth into topic.

Trump’s Bank Fraud Defense ‘Defies the Laws of Physics’ (so what else is new ?)

TIME MARCHES ON
The New York Attorney General’s action against Donald Trump threatens to crater his business. Trump’s argument doesn’t pass a very simple test.

Donald Trump’s colossal trial for faking property values starts next Monday, and one mind-boggling issue has emerged as his weakest defense yet: the idea that his past lies on financial statements were justified because prices eventually went up anyway.

The judge already expressed his utter contempt for that argument, tearing it apart on Tuesday in the same order that already determined Trump had committed bank fraud and should have his real estate empire pounded into dust.

“He claims that if the values of the property have gone up in the years since the [statements of financial condition] were submitted, then the numbers were not inflated at that time,” Arthur F. Engoron wrote. “The defenses Donald Trump attempts to articulate in his sworn deposition are wholly without basis in law or fact.”

That doesn’t bode well for Trump, his heirs, or other top executives targeted by the New York Attorney General. This is a three-month bench trial, which means there won’t be a jury. The judge alone will decide the outcome, and he’s already concluded Trump is an unrepentant serial liar.
