Not a great effort by batsmen of either side.
its not llike they are batting on a minefield.
Just two of the best fast bowling attacks in the world on a fast bouncy pitch.
It was consistent bounce with enough movement both in the air and off the pitch.
I would fancy India's chances of rolling Australia for under 100 then going on to win this game.
Carey the only batsmen standing in their way.

I fancy a stand between Starc and Lyon to push us past 150.

[And pigs may fly]

India batting again.
It has become an interesting test.
And still batting, and batting, and batting.
Finally declare after Kohli gets his century.
Australia need 534 runs to win with two days and an 8 overs to get them.
And already Bumrah has trapped the newest Oz batter Macsweeney in the first over.
India well on top and it will take a miracle of huge biblical proportions for Australia not to end up 1-0 down at the end of the test.

3 for 12!

Oz cricket team.
Outbatted. Outbowled. Outhtought. Outplayed.
outa their depth.

So what should we do now?

Mass sackings?

Pretend it didn't happen?

Sack the coach?

Personally I think Marnus at least should go. He is obviously so down on form and confidence and needs some time out of Tests to recover.

As for the rest, reputation will save them.

Australia were a tad unlucky, they did bowl really well on that first day, but he two batsmen who made runs against them in the first innings could just as easily have been out under ten, such was the number of rash shots and plays and misses.
The problem was that the bowlers had to back up so quickly after the Oz batsmen failed miserably.
I thought that Hazelwood in particular was almost unplayable just efter tea on that second day, just could not find the edge.
However, if you look at the methods of dismissals, I think it shows one of the arteas where India performed better than Australia.
No bowled or LBW for Indias first innings.
Australia 1 bowled and 3 LBW.
it suggests that the Indians were bowling a fuller length than Australia.
In the second innings, India 1 bowled and 1 LBW in a score of 6/487.
So far, in Australias 5 wickets in the second innings Australia have 2 LBW's and some other ones that were perilously close.
Pat Cummins in his last 6 tests has got 10 wickets at an average of 40.
That is not the figures of a test bowler.
He was at best unpredictable in this test, bowling some good balls, but giving away a lot of runs.
Mirchell Marsh was cooked after bowling 15 overs, and was expensive.
No surpring really when one considers he has not bowled in red ball cricket for months, then expect him to bowl line and length in a test.
As for marnus, the problem is, who do you replace him with?
Mcsweeney was the standout in the India V Oz A game, and he looked out of his depth at test level.
The top order has too many passengers.
You can carry one, not six.

I agree we bowled too short. There batsmen have more patience and are mentally prepared to stay around longer. Plus our bowlers don't like bowling long spells in the heat, they usually dismiss sides very qujckly

The OZ giels accounted for India fairly easily yesterday.
You can see the changing of the guard, the two young openers, Voll and Litchfield looked classy , especially Litchfield.
Voll is a power hitter, and for her first game in OZ colours showed a maturity to bat through the innings.
The blokes have a game against India as well starting today.
less confidant about them.
Some of Australias U19 cricketers are starting to make their way through the ranks.
Apart from Sam Konstas who got a Century agaonst India A in the recently washed out tour game, Jack Edwards has been showing steady improvement.
He does not have a great batting average at 29, but he has two centuries and 3 fifties, so can bat.
Also has 54 wickets at just over 30.
Majli Beardman has also been recognised by being included in the OZ squad.

watching a bit of last nights Oz batting before I went out, the Indian bowlers allowed the Oz openers way too many opportunities to leave the ball. Sometimes they left the ball on length, sometimes on width.
The ball will start to get softer today, and the OZ batters need to make some hay.
The question is, can they get to a lead of 150 by the the last hour before play, and have a second crack at India with a new ballm under the lights?
May take a bold declaration.

McSweeney looked good. I hope he can carry on. Marnus looked too face on to me, I think he should straighten his stance a bit.

One of the best innings I've seen from any Australian, Travis Head 140, fantastic entertainment as well, the way he picked the gaps was very skillful. Also good to see Marnus getting some runs. I think he straightened his stance up a bit. ;)

Marnus obviously reads the ASF cricket threads.

Pretty good performance all round by OZ men.
Wipes out the poor showing in the first test.
Smith is a worry.
He needs a big score and then a repeat before some questions are going to be asked about his place in the team.
Kawaja is also under the pump a bit.
Need one big score or a couple of 50+ for people to keep the faith.
But at is age, his time is limited.
Pat Cummins
On the Indian side, that litte smart arse Nitish Reddy is already making his mark.
Bats with arrogance and a level of skill, is more than just a handy bowler.
Risbah Pant is a nut case still.
Kohli still looks like Smith, technical problems have crept in to his game, and they both might look at the thought of retirement before its too late.
Rohit Sharma looks like a man carrying a large burden he does not need.
His captaincy was ordinary, I thought that Bumrah did a better job in the 1st test.
At 37 and with just one 50 in his last 12 test innings, his time must be just about ended,
And to top it all off, the Oz Women thrashed Indian women yesterday.
In just her second game for the ladies, Georgia Voll reeled off a century batting with Perry who scored her third ODI century.
First female cricketer to score 7,000 runs and take 300 wickets across all formats.
