Maxwell the genius at it again.................

<<Maxwell smashed four fours and 10 sixes as he single-handedly flipped the game on its head before eventually being dismissed for 90 off just 52 balls.

In amusing scenes, Maxwell and Usama Mir combined for 81 runs with Mir contributing zero to that tally.>>

Mir was merely there to hold the other bat, 81 runs and he was still on 0, good team player as Maxwell went berserk again

The best ODI innings I've seen considering the state of the game, after his 200 against Afghanistan.

A freak, I hope he does it more often.

The Oz womens team have started their defence of the ashes fairly well.
Won the first two ODI's against England, though neither team covered themselves in glory.
Some ordinary batting, ordinary bowling, and ordinary fielding.
Its just that Oz women had less of each sin.
The fact that the Oz team were bundled out for less than 200 for the first time in 13 years would make one think it was a minefield.
Junction Oval where the match took place has been a batsperson's paradise for years, and it was just poor shot selection.
So in the multi match ashes format, the OZ girls are 4 points to nil.
If they win the third ODI, it is going to make it very difficult for the POMS to get enough points in the three T20's and the one off test.
Go girls.

And right on cue, the Oz girls have made it a clean sweep of the ODI's.
Only need to one of the four remaining games to retain the ashes.
On current form, it would take some sort of miracle for that not to happen.

Oz girls have won the first t20, giving them four out of four wins, but more importantly, they now have 8 points in the bank.
With a maximum of 8 points left on the table, the best England can do is end up on 8 points each, which means that Australia retains the ashes.
After the 8 all drwn series in 2023, England came here with high hopes, but they have come up against a ruthless Australian side thayt took whatever chances were offered.
Oz made a very high 198, which effectively meant that England had to produce their highest ever total in a chase.
they made a good fist of it, keeping up with the run rate until the hlf way mrk, but regular wickets were always going to make it diffcult.
A big rush of wickets at the end sees the Oz girsl win by 58 runs.
Their aim now is to complete a whitewash.
Well done ladies.

Oz women's team made a clean sweep of the limited overs series, winning 3 ODI's and 3 T20's.
Have laid the foundation for a clean sweep of the entire ashes series, and given the the likely lowered confidence levels of the English women's team, I see little to change the momentum and stop our girls from wining the test and the clean sweep.
The Women's U19 World Cup tournament in Malaysia have qualified for the semi finals without any losses so far.
Meanwhile, in another of those strange selection thought bubbles, there is talk of dropping Konstas so that head can open the innings in the first test in Sri Lanka.
That would seemingly allow Josh Inglis to make his debut in the team.
I still don't understand why Kawajah is still in the team.
Is he a better player than Konstas?
Probably.
But does the future of Australian mens cricket lie with Kawaja or the likes of Konstas?
In another rather silly peice of thinking, it seems that selectors are seriously thinking of including Matt Kunneman in the side, despite having badly broken his thumb two weeks ago.
It was on his non bowling hand, but how will it affect his fielding, and his catching in particular?
Why risk an injured player just because he is a spinner?
If they want backup to the Goat, include Todd Murphy, who performed quite well in India last time around.
They also have the left arm spin of Beau Webster and Travis Head to call on.

Pretty much half everything I wrote about the mens team above has been shown to junk.
Kawahja made a double ton, and leapfrogged 9 other players on the all time run list.
Josh Inglis a ton at better than run a ball on his debut.
With Smith adding a ton to move into the 10,000 runs group, and jumped two spots on the all time runs list.
Beau Webster and Carey still batting as OZ go past 625 runs for loss of five wickets.
When OZ ffinally declare, and get to bowl, Kunnerman will probably complete my humiliation.

The commentator's curse strikes again. ;)

Probably the best Aus have ever batted on a turning pitch.

They have obviously done a lot of work on what used to be a glaring weakness.

Now declared at 654/6.

Do they have enough time to bowl them out twice?

Yesterday was a pretty good day for Oz cricket.
The mens team beat the Sri Lankans by an innings, the women's team beat the England an innings , and the Mens Australia A side beat the English Lions by an innings.
husband and wife duo Alyssa heally and Mitch Stark were both playing tests cricket playing on opposite hemisphers.
The only downer was the fact that the women's U19 side was knocked out of the 19 world cup when they lost to South Africa in the semis.

Australia mens team won the second test in Sri Lanka with starring roles for Steve Smith and Usman Kawajah batting, and both Matt Kunehman and the GOAT in the spinning department.
The experiment of Cooper Connolly was a bit of fizzer, 4 runs, a couple of innocuous overs, with his only real contribution being the mulleett sticking out the back of his brand new Oz cap.
Webster looks like he belongs, picked up a wicket bowling both seam and offies, and took some great catches.
In a bit of a surprise, Kunneman has been reported by one of the match officials for a suspect action.
Maybe he has changed something, but given he has been plaing at first class level for 5 years, its a bit surpring that a question about his action has not popped up before.
Seems to be plenty of talented cricketers coming through, and I have been following the fortunes of some of last years victorious world cup U19 players.
Harry Dixon and Raf MacMillan got their first taste of shield cricket, with Dixon looking impressive with 66 in his first dig.
The upcoming p WTC tournament in Pakistan will be interesting, with a whole bunch of new faces, given Cummins, Starc and Hazelwood will be missing. Cam Green is still recovering from injury, so a lot will depend on Abbot, Zampa and Dwarsius.
On the batting side, Smith, Head and Maxwell will need to make some consistent scores.

Kunneman suspect action? Wow, first I have heard of it.

I had my suspicions after watching him bowl, but I think you can say the same for a lot of bowlers these days, including the Sri Lankan spinners.

I saw some footage tonight on the news.
I agree, his action looked somewhat suspicious.
Seeing this, it does not surprise me that he has been questioned.

Pi$$ poor effort by AUS in both ODI's against SL.

Fraser McGurk has had enough chances both in BBL and has done virtually nothing as has Hardie.

No more experiments, go back to what we know works.

I thought Hardie bowled reasonably well in the first ODI, as did Ellis.
Lambuchagne is a worry, and really should be dropped.
The hyphenated one is a bit overated, needs a ton more consistency brfore he is ever included again..
Zampa seems to have lost his magic, but deserves more chances
Glen Maxwell is another who has failed to fire in recent times.
i don't think the OZ players were taking this seriously.
Some out of character shoddy fielding, plus some poor shot decision making.
The bowling has been carrying this team for a while.
Makes you wonder what happens when Hazelwood, Starc and Cummins retire.
Mick

I guess he's living on his innings in the World Cup final. I don't think they will drop him as he is a classy batsman and will hopefully return to form.

Maxwell lives on reputation but when is on form nothing can stop him.
