I'm interested to know how you draw this conclusion from Stop's previous post saying he will be collecting in an affluent area?

Cheers
Julia

Julia, read his response on post 39,that should answer your query. :p:

Stop,go back to January and chase the story on Aussie Kim Klisters, how she invited a nice family in her corporate box, she had met in the hotel they were sharing even had breakfast with them, who then turned out to be a drug dealing family, who had served many years in jail, sorry drug organiser family,I cant remember fully but there seemed to be a bit of confusion as to the whereabout of the millions that the police believe they made.Believe they live in Brighton. For those who dont know Brighton is where the rich ,seriously rich live.

And althought I wish the government didnt treat us so badly I know that its about political consideration, they have nothing to gain bu spending money in the western suburbs, ,so why spend money that could be used to buy them more votes. And if you believe that governments provide services to benefit the people who use them, you must believe that pigs fly.

Just a little bit of history,we in the western suburbs got the first high school sometime in the fifties, tell me Stop, what were the governments of that time saying?

I Have no idea what they were saying....I wasn't even born then (in the 50's, nor in the 60's either. I was born in the 70's

So I guess that you have lived way longer than myself and therfore can comment on all the answers to life.

Maybe that suggests why your behaviour and reasoning are a little wacked, when refering to the government

Regarding wealthy versus poor areas, I think both have problems.

I've spent plenty of time (over a decade of full time work) doing outside work in both relatively poor suburbs and those at the other end of the scale as well as those inbetween. Suffice to say that it's the wannabe wealthy areas (ie not the absolute wealthiest but those just below that level) where the most problems occur with whinging about everything from being delayed literally 2 minutes due to roadworks, unavoidable noise during normal times for such activity and so on. You can't even pour concrete without it getting vandalised and the attitude of motorists is arrogant to say the least. Literally been abused for simply crossing the road when the light was green.

In the truly wealthy areas it's a totally different attitude. Quite relaxed and just a few "what is being done here" friendly questions. No problems at all really and people seem quite happy with any reasonable delay, mess, noise etc as long as they're informed as to how long etc.

In the poor areas it's bad language, spitting and so on but not much else. I'd MUCH rather work there than in a wannabe wealthy area. No complaints at all about noise, mess etc.

As for the middle areas, not many problems at all really.

Bottom line is that I've seen enough to know that I want as little to do with the wannabe wealthy suburbs as possible. Outright arrogance that I just haven't seen anywhere else either truly wealthy or poor. I've noticed that most of the whinging to the media etc about everything from the state of the roads to noise from nightclubs comes from these areas too.

If I were doing Census collection then I would be hoping for anywhere that isn't people who want to live in a wealthy suburb for the "status" but can't actually afford to live in the top suburb. It might be different elsewhere, but that's what I've seen around Hobart. :2twocents

Well the suburb I am collecting in, is wealthy, very wealthy!

It is one of the wealthiest post codes in Adelaide, so it is not a wanna be wealthy suburb.

So I am assuming, I will not be spat on, sworn at, beat up, or set on fire. :p:

So Stop, you are a bit like Elle Mcpherson who was quoted as saying that she doesnt read books that she hasnt written!!!

For you information,I too was born late 60s not the 70s but pretty close.
I know stuff ,because I read, and talk to people who are better informed than me,so I also like to learn, can you imagine if history was totally disregarded,it would pretty much be like that movie,Groundhog day.
History is a guide, how else can you make informed decisions?

Ye but you live there because some else can afford to,not because you can,so looks like Smurf has got it in one. :p:

I have worked for ABS as data processer .Trust me they r very particular about the personal information and who has access to it.I must have processed hundreds of thousands of forms ( on their data base) but it was all jumbled out ..mostly we didnt know even which areas that form belonged to ..forget the name or any such information.

so feel free to fill them out :)

cheers

Sheena

Exactly that is my point, after its collected, all personal information is destroyed and its contents is used.

Its not the persons name, or address that counts is the informtion that is contained within a suburb that is valued

Information security is an increasing problem these days.

Refresh my memory, do census forms have names and/or addresses on them? If they do, why, if its only used on a geographical basis? Wouldn't post code and checking an address off a list be enough?

The government already cross references their systems (centrelink, immigration, ato etc) for data mining purposes - will this information be added to that long list?

The only reason for the names and address' to appear on Census forms is to cross check that all dwellings have been collected, and all peoples have been accounted for.

Then the personal information is destroyed and what is kept in the data only.

By law census is not allowed to cross-check information with other government agency.

yep,Mista you are absolutely right, perhaps we should move them closer to the eastern suburbs,do you think?

But as even you said the information is used to allocate services which is how this discussion started. The only thing we disagree on is the way these services are allocated,I think its political you on the other hand dont think so.

Doesn't matter which political party are in power, the census still goes ahead every 5 years, so your argument is fruitless.

If anyone ever wondered where brown shirts (using the loosest definition) come from, this thread should be illuminating :cautious:

Oh Stop, now you are flirting :( she says, tongue firmly in cheek.
