****ASF Breaking News****

Again, I am not across the issues and have no opinion, but for what it's worth:

Why shouldn't the same apply to the journalists who published it I wonder?
If it falls under the premise of investigative journalism and the source is credible, that I assume would be classed as in the public interest.

If it was from a non credible source, it shouldn't have been published and the publisher and journalist should be held accountable, but that seems to be a thing of the past.

Nowadays, it seems to be that whoever has the stage be it the loony left, or loony right, can dictate what is acceptable and what isn't.:xyxthumbs

Heavy rain in Indonesia over the weekend triggered flash flooding and sent torrents of volcanic matter coursing down a volcano and into towns, killing at least 41 people, officials said. Hours of rain on Saturday night carried volcanic rock and ash down Mount Marapi, an active volcano on the island of Sumatra, and into homes in nearby towns.

Bad juju. Some people are drawing conclusions of Prince Ferdinandesque proportions. 😲
Hardly a major power, mostly a mountainous region with a population of only 5 million.

Slovakian media has identified the shooter as 71-year-old Juraj Cintula, a self-described writer who previously worked as a security guard and is allegedly linked to pro-Russian group Slovački branci.

Probably Putin sending a warning as the country is adjacent Ukraine.

Probably have to wait for Trumps reaction - to get the Media's counter reaction - they probably already have stories prepped about how trump supports Putin and this assassination attempts proves it.

But wasn't this guy pro Russia and anti Ukraine? If so good riddance. Obviously the work of the CIA.

No, I repeat the pro-Russian guy did the hit, possibly under the orders of Putin.

We can't even trust Australian media why would you trust Slovakian media?

Fico, an ally of Russia, was elected prime minister in October after running a campaign that criticized Western support for Ukraine.

Would not surprise me if Putin wanted him dead but what's the motive? He's pretty much a baby Putin.

He isn't an ally of Putin or Russia. Slovakia is independent and a member of NATO.
I understand why Russia has a massive department spending hundreds of millions of propaganda for the west - it works.

Independent. Yeah right. Like the WA government is independent of the mining companies. Erdoğan and Turkey are also in Nato. But not exactly allies of 'the west' and probably more aligned with Russia. First article I looked up:

  • His government has scaled back support for Ukraine while opening dialogue with Russia, sought to weaken punishments for corruption and dismantled a special prosecutor's office, and is revamping the RTVS public broadcaster despite calls to protect media freedom.
  • Fico has long been critical of Slovakia's mainstream media, refusing to speak to some outlets. Members of his party blasted media and opposition actions in recent months.
  • Fico, a dominant force in Slovakia for two decades, has drawn criticism for taking a more pro-Russian stance in the Ukraine war

Lets take Fox News as a counter to those liberal left woke scum at France24:
  • In the wake of the shooting, Slovakia’s major opposition parties, Progressive Slovakia and Freedom and Solidarity, canceled a planned protest against a controversial government plan to overhaul public broadcasting that they say would give the government full control of public radio and television.
  • Slovakia, a country of 5.5 million people that shares a border with Ukraine, also has been a staunch supporter of Kyiv since Russia invaded in February 2022, donating arms and opening its borders for refugees fleeing the war.
  • But Fico has stopped military aid. He also opposes European Union sanctions on Russia and wants to block Ukraine from joining NATO.
So other than Russian puppet newscorp saying he was a supporter of Kiev (different to france24) most of these statements look like a guy who prefers Russia, prefers Putin.

The Guardian title says it all. I always trust in the Guardian.

Anyways. How do you manage to shoot a guy 5 times and not kill him? Like seriously - unless it was a fake assassination attempt arranged by Putin to help his puppets in Slovakia consolidate power. None of these leaders who grew up as soviets are trustworthy. (most leaders are untrustworthy anyways)

He is going to be next to Ukraine, of course he is not

Didn't say he didn't have dictatorial tendencies. If Russia wins Ukraine, they will be adjacent so why would they keep sending their arms? Probably thought that would keep Putin off his back.

He is acting like Hungary. He isn't a Putin clone though (like Belarus).
