A powerful volcano is erupting. Here’s what that could mean for weather and climate

April 23, 2024

In comparison, satellite instruments have estimated Mount Ruang has released an around 300,000 tons of sulfur dioxide so far, though it’s unclear how much of that plume made it into the stratosphere. While that amount is quite massive in its own right, it falls well short of the most extreme case, according to Huey.

An eruption as large as Mount Pinatubo in 1991 could certainly cool the planet for a few years, though it wouldn’t be able to erase the Earth’s current climate woes caused by planet-warming pollution, and it would come at the cost of tremendous damage to life and property.

Sounds like the jobs done and time to move on for the Solomon Islands PM.

Like most of these Island "nations" they tend to move with the tides and wind, and who is offering the most to line the hip pocket nerve.

Baja California, one of Mexico’s most violent states because of organised crime gangs, is also known for its inviting beaches and the Ensenada area is considered among its safer parts.
Many marched with their boards scrawled with messages, including “beaches, security, freedom, peace”, “no more deaths” and “Australia, we are with you”.

David McBride sentenced to 5 years jail for leaking classified documents.

I don't know the guts of the story, but if you give open slather on any information, why bother having confidential military info?
Just have the military put it on facebook, or X, or if you wanted to keep it from popular media just put it on the ABC website. Lol
Otherwise, if you want to keep sensitive military info secret, there has to be a penalty.

Yeah I do not know the details of the story either but it's kind of a subjective thing. There are secrets which should be public, and there are things that should be public which are secrets.
