I am in the market for charting software for my macpro, I am especially interested in candle stick charting and data search capabilities.

Has anyone used or know anything of ProTA Gold for Mac OS X???

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Hi Prise,
Pro TA is an excellent package and very good value for the price. Great charting and indicator options and fairly easy to set up scans and test trading systems. I have been using it for about a year and it suits me to a tea. I moved over from Hotline from trendsoft http://www.trendsoft.com/ which is more of a grey box than a tool box and doesn't have the same user friendliness that ProTA has. The support is also excellent..all my support emails have been replied to in a timely manner.
I guess the only criticisms I have are the limited drawing tools and the programming code is a bit tricky (but show me simple code!)
Highly recommended.

I'm also useing Prota Gold, have done since the first version about 7 years ago and have found its scanning abilities and trade testing seem to work really well. Although for some reason beesoft.net - which is the site to download it from seems to be down at the moment. I also use fc charts on my mac running under windows - it also works well. You do not need parallels to run both, but you do need to reboot and use tem separately. I've tried Parallels but the mac tends to freeze sometimes with it. Last thing you need if you are intraday trading. cheers Mike

Beesoft.net has gone AWOL, seems to have forgotten to pay the domain name registration fee. It's a bummer cos I've been trying to get ProTA Gold for evaluation. StockXloader is supposed to intergate well for scanning the market without paying direct access fees.

If anyone knows what's up please post, us Mac users don't have a lot of options. (On the other hand, us Mak buyers do have a lot of options, but that a whole other story).

Cheers

I've stopped using parallels and now use VMWare Fusion. Its much better and completely stable. My Mac has never frozen with VMWare, and peripheral USB devices work better.

Hi Prise and others,

How did you go with searching for Mac trading software? I'm currently in the market for software to run on my Mac and was told by another trader there is no really good software for Macs out there.

Searching thru the net it seems Pro Ta Gold is getting good reviewsand works well. Can anyone confirm this? Do you need to buy anything else to go with it? And can it provide real time data?

Cheers
Adrian
