For instance our old Abram tanks are to be made redundant. Why not give them to Ukraine?
We could have given them some other stuff and chosen not to. they asked us to send some coal and we said no.

It is profoundly misguided for Australia to see the Ukraine war as a faraway conflict in which we do not have a direct interest.

Australia will donate 49 of the army’s M1A1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine in the nation’s most significant and lethal contribution to the country’s war against Russia, ...

Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy will formally pledge the US-made tanks to Ukraine at a NATO meeting in Brussels this week, following a year-long campaign by Kyiv to secure the weapons.

It is one of the largest single contributions of Western tanks to Ukraine since the war began, exceeding the US’s own donation of 31 M1A1s.
The Australian tanks were due to be retired from next year and replaced with next-generation M1A2s, but are said to be in good condition ..

The contribution takes Australia’s support for Ukraine to $1.5bn, and follows an outcry over the government’s decision last year to scrap 45 MRH-90 Taipan helicopters rather than offer them to Kyiv for the war effort.

Some of the tanks will need to undergo repairs and upgrades before they are gifted to Ukraine, but could be delivered sooner at Kyiv’s request, allowing those in poorer condition to be used to provide spare parts for American-donated M1A1s.

The intelligence is that there are 1500 North Korean special force fighters who will be used to attack the Ukrainians within Russia. It is unknown where the other approximately 9000 fighters will be used.


Ukraine, a sovereign nation , has been attacked, without provocation by its neighbour. If Putin is successful it would send a signal to the world that "the only nations that have freedom and the right to sovereignty are large nations."

China is supporting the war because it distracts the USA from the Indo Pacific and its making money supplying Russia.

Iran has supplied the Shahed drones that regularly pound Ukraine cities.
Personally would be very happy if Israel hit those factories.

North Korea fighting for Russia is a global wake up call.

US also sending troops to support air defence in Israel against Iran. Iran won't want to hit any of those batteries, but I guess that's the assumption from the US after Israel eventually respond. Maybe the US want a reason to target Iran too.

NK sending 3000 soldiers to Russia to fight Ukraine. Not sure how that affects anything except Ukraine may be given license to target them with long range Western weapons inside Russia. What does NK and China then do. China are saving their powder for Taiwan I think.

We knew years ago that these were the future teams to line up against each other.

A Trump spokesman who has since been disowned said that Ukraine will have to be realistic and give up getting back the Crimea.

If Trump obtains a peace deal and as part of that Russia gets international acceptance of owning Crimea and otherwise Ukraine keeps the mainland, maybe with a little bit of the Donbas lost, I would be the first to congratulate Trump.

Two things Ukraine will never agree to:
- Even one inch of territory
- Minsk 3 or any other capital city name with number behind it which does not include a comprehensive deterrent (NATO, Western troops, nukes) against Russia
