Could it be that you do not see a thread because it has been started and so is in a way of "owned" by someone you block or someone who has blocked you?
As mentioned above, i am a " blocker" but believe it does cause me trouble when using Search especially
A concrete example:
I like the thread"The future of energy generation and storage", i learnt a lot especially from Mr @Smurf1976
Each time i want to post there, it does not appear in my search as the thread creator is in my ignore list.
And it is a real bummer
But :
I noted today there is an option in the search to display ignored results.
Not sure if it is related to your issue Captain ?

I didn't know it was possible to just "block someone on a thread" quite apart from double blocking them.

How does one do it?

Asking for a friend.

Also I should warn people posting on this thread even if I've blocked you that all the self revelation gives psychopaths like me so much ammunition to play around with at my leisure to make your lives a misery, bit by bit, slowly.

@Garpal Gumnut well gg, perhaps a PM to the Mad Cap't will be the answer.
He appears to the leading light when it comes to blocking anyone when he doesn't agree with their thoughts.

I think he blocked me (again) as I haven't seen anyone of his stuff lately.
Not that I actually take into account his musings.

This way past my comprehension as I am smoke signals type, that has progressed to pigeon mail.
 
Type PDN in to Search and nothing else

I seem to get lots of posts including Yo,u ,Frinky etc etc etc
But I am Blocked from reading Yours and Frinkys' etc etc etc

What I am Saying here is One who Starts a Thread like an XYZ BHP PDN should not have a CRAB Mentality

Well, it seems that Bligh has blocked me again after having been unblocked for some time... Apparently for the heinous sin of having liked someone else's post.

Logging out actually highlights others who have me blocked... Whom which I have actually had no conversations with whatsoever?

Perhaps he/she/they/zhe/zir/it find my perfectly reasonable opinions absolutely intolerable... Dunno.
 
They are GIRLS @wayneL . Well that's how my seven year old grandson described his sisters when they were arguing over Christmas.

Oh, this conversation is getting so boring ( you're not boring @wayneL and you're not a girl ) that I'm going to start another exciting topic in the Announcements and site news thread if nobody minds.
