The Voice

The ABC has been campaigning for YES from the start.

Some people at the ABC should be considering their position.

They are either unbiased journalists or social campaigners, the latter is against the ABC charter.

I’m all for an ABC that is for all Australians. I grew up with the ABC, it helped form my opinions and education, but it has lost its way. They have been taken over by a minority group think that believe their own views are the only ones that should be given, and have forgotten the majority. Turning the bulk of their programming into a form of social engineering.

Time for Australians to have a say in how their tax dollars are distributed to the ABC, I’d like to see a box added to my taxation, something like: would you like to donate to the ABC Yes or No

I’m watching the ABC and ‘life expectancy difference’ keeps being mentioned. Can someone tell me what the life expectancy of indigenous people was before modern medicine was introduced to Australia?

Interesting point. It's hard to find out because there is no documentation available before white settlement.

According to some historians some of the early settlers indicated that life for aboriginals was "hard, brutal and short", with a lot of infanticide when food was scarce.

Who knows really ?

Very much depends on on a mix of genetics and life choices.

Genetics we can't do a lot about, life choices are up to the individual. We can help with education and whatnot, but a body of elites won't help at all IMO

It will be interesting to see how the demographic of the vote ends up.
Some on the thread, have mentioned that the NO vote is being pushed by people who have never seen or spent time with an aboriginal, if that is the case, there should be a strong yes vote from the regions where there is a high aboriginal population.
At the moment, the polling is showing a high yes vote only in the inner city areas with strong support from Malcolm Turnbull, he will probably be giving free selfies at the polling booth. Lol

I would think the opposite would be true given what I saw this year in the regions.

What, there wasn't a high aboriginal population in Fitzroy Crossing, Halls Creek, Camballin etc?
One would think areas like those woild have a resounding Yes vote, it will be interesting.

Even areas like Broome, Carnarvon etc that have a reasonable sized white population and are heavily affected by the aboriginal issue, you would think will vote Yes as they would realise the obvious merits of the Yes campaign.

Going on for 2 hours after voting closed in Queensland and no mention of individual seat results.

ABC Is Sydney centric.

Old Aspie says “ I’ll get to “them yet”.

Now introducing new panellists to the Muppet Show.

About 30, which seems hard to believe. But I think a lot would have died from tribal conflict.

Western life expectancy was pretty low back then too, so maybe need a relative comparison.

On the surface of it, if the British hadn't colonised Australia, the Aboriginals would still be living under bark huts and hunting and gathering like they did for the previous 60,000 years. So, we've doubled their life expectancy. We could easily extend it further if they caught up with Western civilisation, if they just joined in.

I had a giggle watching channel 7 “the only red we can see is the little red dot in the ACT”. I would have had a good laugh if it wasn’t the capital of our country and red wasn’t associated with communism.

OMG now the Yes side is blaming disinformation, voters thinking the vote was about fracking and other BS excuses.

They have learnt nothing.

Yep, this was going to happen. Parkin blaming disinformation... There's going to be lots of blame shifting. Albo will be up all night trying to work out how to keep his job. His first step will be to blame Dutton and he'll eventually remove Burney, but won't be so stupid to do it next week. Marles might be gathering numbers too though.
