I was in the ACT today and heard the story on the car radio. Couldn't help but metion this to the Lady Florist I next stopped at and asked 'did she know of the WoolShed in Hinkley??..... she said 'yeah' ....

Ah yes, the Woolshed....
It's a CBD nightclub thinly disguised as a pub with a very intentional "country pub" aesthetic for those not familiar. Best known for a mechanical rodeo bull and pop / rock music at ground level, more typical nightclub music and no bulls upstairs.
As a friend who's owned and run several nightclubs elsewhere assures me, they've actually pulled of a genius stroke of marketing here. They've managed to advertise in every state via all mainstream media, including the ABC, and all for just $3897. They're now the best known club in Adelaide for those who don't live there but who may visit as tourists - and they've done this just weeks before the Adelaide 500 with a marketing image aimed straight at that demographic.
And as she puts it, anyone who'd boycott the place due to that promotional stunt isn't the sort of person, male or female, they want as customers anyway.

An Australian living in New York has been called a "coloniser" for opening a restaurant serving 'Australian-style' sushi.
A chef from North Carolina, Eric Rivera, hit out at Marks, accusing her of cultural appropriation.
"But it's 'stralian sushi. Give me a break coloniser," Rivera said.
"If you don't see why this is a problem, you are the problem."

The issue here isn't the restaurant.
It's that Americans see racism as normal to the point it's expected someone doing x will be of a particular race.
Why on earth does someone's race or nationality have anything to do with their ability to run a restaurant? It's the style of food not something to do with the person who owns it or works there.
Or should I say McDonald's isn't American it's actually South Australian because if I go to the nearest one well I'm pretty sure 100% of the people working in it live in SA.

It's a big taboo over in the States to profit from someone else's culture, it's like people getting fined for selling fake native American Indian art and craft, but then it's okay for Indians to sell it in their own shops.The issue here isn't the restaurant.
