So maybe import more tents?Labour and the Greens are dreaming, if you cap rents you'll have to cap everything related to a rental or you'll end up with poor quality rentals. It's been a proven fact in many studies.
As for their commitment to building public housing that's another dream, the costs will blow out to something huge.

Sow to the wind, reap a whirlwind. So maybe import more tents?
The opposition would have to offer a solution. We all know they want to keep the status quo.The latest ABS figures out today further highlight the fall in owner occupier housing.
Why on earth someone from the opposition or cross benchers does not just put these charts into hansard and ask one the genii in the Govenment to explain it it all is just beyond me.
it makes the opposition and cross benchers just as big a bunch of morons as the government.

It's been inaction from many governments over decades, pointing the finger at private investors when they hold less than 30% of the housing market is just a red herring. So maybe import more tents?
Absolutely, but there are way too many politicians with skin in the game and now prices have gotten so far out of control, the financial shock of a price collapse would probably be too much.Hate to say it, but the best thing they could have done is let Australia go into a recession and let the housing market go through its cycle.
more like the seagull on top of the iceberg , but heck this is the Fabian Socialist tradition , rose-tinted glasses on even after the train hits them , all that university time/space just flushed down the S-bendLabour and the Greens are dreaming, if you cap rents you'll have to cap everything related to a rental or you'll end up with poor quality rentals. You mean like not bringing in 600k extra people a year..that's consensusThe opposition would have to offer a solution. We all know they want to keep the status quo.

Bad or worse..
We got worse now
yes among all these leftist yellings, RE is actually going down after inflation in most places..so the real issue is that income are going down too..which is a given when you bring in 600k younger migrants in a small working population..but blame neg gearingOverall gains not keeping up with interest and a couple doing better

in the noosa area I would say we have had a 10% decrease in prices from top (2022) overall and some stagnant prices otherwise with a real inflation not far from double digit, that is a bit of a fall in real term..
I guess in todays terms we could measure the Australian housing market in Pi or PieA five acre property not too far from us was put on the market early this week, yesterday had the Under Offer sign plastered across it.
$1.5+ I am told.
Not your first home buyers looking at these semi-rural retreats.
Land is what's worth the money these days as it is becoming rare. My parents have small farm acreage just 25kms from the Brisbane CBD and have the vultures try to buy it from them every month.A five acre property not too far from us was put on the market early this week, yesterday had the Under Offer sign plastered across it.

depends if you are addicted to mainstream media and (most ) popular social media
Just a couple hundred metres from me a parcel of 10.5 hectares has just hit the market , inside 10kms to Brisbane CBD ( just) . There is zero price guide but the mind boggles on how much it may be worthLand is what's worth the money these days as it is becoming rare. The last one brought them easter eggs and coffee after they had told them that the property wasn't for sale and persisted in working some deal with them where the buyer would buy now and pay later. My parents BS to them and told them that the property is partly owned by the kids, when he heard that he picked himself up and left.
